If you weren't sipping on Schweppes+Beefeater/Gordon's gin and tonics during the summer of '77 you weren't happening.

RC Cola wasn't too bad. One I hated was cream soda. Never liked cherry coke either.

Anyone notice how all of those sodas DO NOT taste the same?

It's like they are watered down versions.

Different or inferior ingredients.

Undoubtedly - if you look up the histories of these drinks they were invented by chemists and so forth rather than business entrepeneurs but eventually the companies were taken over by profiteers who were less concerned with maintaining the original production methods than making money.

Johann Jacob Schweppe (/ˈʃvɛpə/ SHVEP-ə, German: [ˈjoːhan ˈjaːkɔp ˈʃvɛpə]; 16 March 1740 – 18 November 1821) was a German watchmaker and amateur scientist who developed the first practical process to manufacture bottled carbonated mineral water and began selling the world's first bottled soft drink,[1][2] His company, Schweppes, regards Priestley as "the father of our industry".[3]

Joseph Priestley FRS (/ˈpriːstli/;[3] 24 March 1733 – 6 February 1804) was an English chemist, Unitarian, natural philosopher, separatist theologian, grammarian, multi-subject educator and classical liberal political theorist.[4] He published over 150 works, and conducted experiments in several areas of science.[5][6]

O-So Orange back in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
I am guessing 1957, plus or minus, so I was about 5.
My Dad gave me a handful of dimes.
His "pop" machine at work had bottles for 10¢. It was ice cold.
He said go get yerself an orange O-so pop...
...so I did...
...and I did...
...and again and some more.
...one more...
then another...
I think he gave me 6 dimes. I used them all and drank them all...

In the backseat, going home, driving on a hilly, bumpy country road....yeah, he had to pull over
3 or 4 times. At least...
My older brothers had belly laughs at my expense.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

If R C was my only choice then it would be beer which is my choice any way. Wine isn't that a waste of water?
