5/15/26 Mariners vs Poodres game thread

Post by DavidGee24 » Fri May 15, 2026 7:20 am

Well, another chance to get back to .500 and a team that's only a half game behind the Dodgers is in the way.

Speaking of the Dodgers, so many thought that it was a foregone conclusion that they'd just romp on everybody, but those people missed one important thing: the fact that they've got key players who were already aging and just aged another year. Even Ohtani is now 31.

We owe these guys a good head-farting for that fake game where they "rallied" for 5 runs in the ninth, and we should start it by making Jackson Merrill take a dirt bath.

I predicted 17-11 for this month and we are at 6-7 so far so need to go 11-4 to make it so. I hope you are good for 10 of those wins brother!!!

I'll be lucky to get two. The team is still very flawed and even in taking three out of four from the Asstros they really should have swept them and blew the game they lost. If we can keep Rivas out of the lineup, get Cal going, eventually we'll call up Anderson and things should fall into place. This is still a team that has a good chance to win it all.

Yeah hopefully 29 yo Donovan isn't so gimpy he needs Rivas to give him a break twice a week. He looked pretty good on the triple yesterday. Cal is likely out until the AS break so hopefully Pereda won't suck as bad as Garver does. He was .321/.831 in Tacoma. Now that Castillo finally had a good outing we have 6 starters all rolling so won't see Anderson until there is at least one more starter injury.

Is that your Seth impersonation? A grade one oblique strain should be around 3-4 weeks

All Star break begins July 12th. 8 weeks from Sunday. I will stick with that as my prediction.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller is back on the active roster after missing the first two months of the season with a left oblique strain. He successfully completed a minor league rehab assignment and was reinstated from the 15-day injured list to make his season debut against the Houston Astros. Here are the details of his injury and recovery timeline:Injury Details: Miller strained his left oblique early in Spring Training, which shut him down from pitching for the majority of the preseason.

We shall see, depends how severe. I think two months would be the high end
MLB players typically require 26 to 35 days to recover from an oblique strain, with hitters averaging 27 days and pitchers often taking closer to 35 days for a full return. Minor strains may take 2–3 weeks, while severe, deeper tears can sideline players for 6–8 weeks or longer.

Recovery Timeline Breakdown:
Mild/Grade 1 Strains: ~2–4 weeks (14-28 days).
Moderate/Severe Strains: ~4–8+ weeks.
MLB Average (Hitters): 26–27 days.
MLB Average (Pitchers): ~35 days.

Yep.
Seattle Mariners utility player Luke Raley is currently healthy and active. His most recent major injury occurred on April 29, 2025, when he suffered a Grade 1 right oblique strain during batting practice. He missed nearly two months, completing a Triple-A rehab assignment before being reinstated to the active roster on June 20, 2025.

Cal's gonna be out for awhile. Time for Garver and Pereda to step up.

I'm not looking forward to being down by a couple runs in the bottom of the ninth and seeing Mason Miller during this series.
He's having a sick, sick start.
19 IP, 0.92 ERA, 40ks, 0.66 WHIP

And of course, by the time we see him, we'll have Raley/Canzone on the bench because the Padres brought a lefty reliever in earlier. So we'll have righties Joe/Umpsnyder vs righty Miller.
