Damndest thing, I was thinking that Madison Square Garden is the oldest basketball/hockey arena in professional sports, but then I looked it up, saw that it was built in 1968 (previous incarnations were different buildings in different locations), and guess which arena actually is the oldest?

Imagine the world in which people do just guess or try to work it out - without looking it up. 8-)

So I will play along - I know that the NBA really have insisted over the past couple of decades that teams had a modern world class facility prompting a lot of the old arena to be demolished. Even the Lakers and Clippers have gone to a new arena recently, haven't they?

I'll go with Kraken's arena - although the team is new the Arena isn't? ---- now I will go and look up the answer.

Follow up question then - I know the Red Sox (1912) and the Cubs (1914) have the oldest parks in baseball, what year (and team) has the next oldest? Try and not look either question up before answering.

Yep, it's Climate Pledge, built in 1962 making it the oldest. Who would have ever thought it?

Third oldest ballpark is Dodger Stadium and fourth oldest is Angel Stadium. Those were easy, and #5 is Kaufmann Stadium. After that it gets tricky. I would have correctly guessed Rogers Centre at #6 but then my next guess would have been Camden Yards at #7 and it's Tropicana Field.

Spurs scored 76 points in the first half before scoring only 30 the rest of the way, that 46-point difference tied the largest such decrease in a playoff game in the shot clock era (since 1954-55).

The Knicks are the 39th team to take a 3-1 lead in the Finals. The previous 38 teams this has happened, 37 teams closed the deal, with only the 2016 Warriors blowing such a lead vs. the LeBron James-led Cavaliers.

Extraordinary scenes at MSG, worth a look on whichever platform you watch your highlights....

The NBA is so fcking rigged though.

It'll go to 7 to keep NYC market tuned in as long as possible.

I didn't read any posts about the NBA finals, except to see a few words that indicate this might be the place to comment on them.

I purchased ESPN+ so I could watch. I have 2 screens so was 2-timing last night starting at 5:30. This was the second game of this series I was watching. It had been several years since my last NBA game, which was when Lebron did some amazing heroics, etc. against the Warriors? Maybe? I dunno. And before that it was a decade+ between games. I'm that kind of person. I haven't watched a TV primetime series since 1983. But the 2 games I've seen played in the last couple days have actually offended me. It's nothing like the basketball I grew up playing. I'm not even going to go into that. After 5 minutes I turned it off. And I guess I missed the greatest finals comeback ever. I'm still glad I didn't watch.

Good thing is, I get to watch the Mariners tonight on ESPN

I've caught the last part of each of the four games and I'm surprised at how entertaining they've been. One of the things that people bemoan is "lack of defense". That might be true of the regular season but these guys are playing some damn good defense, I think that what misleads people is that players today are so good offensively, and not just at shooting threes, but also their movement with the ball and ability to create and make tough shots.

This is why it's so laughable when people say The Dream Team would school today's players. No they wouldn't, they'd get run right off the court and buried under an avalanche of threes.

Yeah, it sounds like a pretty entertaining series actually. And it sounds like the Knicks are throwing plenty of defense at the Spurs. They've handled Wemby successfully so far. And Wemby is a heck of a basketball player.

Have you reached out to your brother for a wellness check? I don't think I could have handled that meltdown if it was my team.
