This is a bad faith argument.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 6:29 pmTo slightly alter a phrase from Moneyball, "If he's such a good pitcher, then why doesn't he pitch good?"
I'm sure Sloan will get it together and hopefully not end up being another Gil Meche or Taijuan Walker, but projecting him over Anderson is insane considering that he's presently not even an average AA pitcher and Anderson is probably the best pitcher in minor league baseball.
Kade vs. Sloan

Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Sloan's on track to reach MLB a year or two younger than Jacob Misierowski did, if he figures it out and actually progresses.
Which, doesn't mean much other than highlights how some of these high school drafted prospects would be mowing it down as sophomores in college at this point if they were a guy like Jacob Misierowski, who still spent a couple years in the minors after they got drafted.
They're young. Plenty of time to make a leap.
But Kade Anderson looks ready now.

Funny, I thought I was just saying that Anderson > Sloan.

I could swear that my goal was to say that Anderson > Sloan and that I achieved it, but apparently basic language can be a tricky thing.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 7:44 pmThere you did it again.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 7:29 pmFrom AI: "A bad faith argument is a deceptive rhetorical tactic where a person's overt words do not align with their actual goals"

Here's my 1 cent's worth of analysis...Yes, Kade is older but he pitched at LSU and was the #1 starter for the team that won the College WS and he was named Most Outstanding Player for the WS tournament. That is pressure and balls in that kind of environment; that makes AA cake for him. Sloan has a TON less experience than Kade does, with being drafted out of HS and not playing college. Kade is ready to go and be in the M's rotation; Sloan needs. another year of seasoning. It is like who would you rather have Glavine or Smoltz....personally I'll take both.

Re: Kade vs. Sloan
This reminds me of Jaxson Smith-Njigba. Not only was he very highly regarded, but in the biggest game of his life, the Rose Bowl as a junior (he missed almost his entire senior year with injury), he caught 15 passes for 347 yards and three TDs. Just totally insane numbers in that kind of a game. And we've seen how it's turned out.Bil522 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 5:43 amHere's my 1 cent's worth of analysis...Yes, Kade is older but he pitched at LSU and was the #1 starter for the team that won the College WS and he was named Most Outstanding Player for the WS tournament.
