2026 OTAs thread
Re: 2026 OTAs thread
We were told Abe Lucas would be back for the start of the season in 2024 and he first played on 11-17.

That's like 5 weeks difference, which doesn't seem that big a deal but it is in terms of games played. Just the way rules work I can't see him sooner than the fifth game. So if he could get back between the fifth and tenth game, that would be impressiveD-train wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 3:32 pmI have him back at around the time the giant Turkey goes in the oven. If he beats that, then I shall be impressed....Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 2:28 amTerms of charbonnet... assuming he's not really going to be ready the opening of the season, he's pretty much has to go on the PUP list. So that makes him eligible the fifth game of the season. So how about that, is that too optimistic?

Yep. We can rely on Holani until then but I doubt he will be getting 40% of carries....Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 3:58 pmThat's like 5 weeks difference, which doesn't seem that big a deal but it is in terms of games played. I'm with DT on this one. Plenty of vets use OTA's to get acclimated to a new situation, and then work their ass off to be ready for training camp in 6 weeks.

Here's Matt Hasselbeck suggesting they throw to the RBs more. It's interesting they didn't throw to them much to begin with. That would seem a pretty big adjustment to increase the amount after losing your more experienced pass catchers
. According to former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, one way is by making the running backs a bigger part of the passing game. The Seahawks targeted running backs on just 13.6% of their pass attempts last season, which was the fifth-lowest rate in the league.
“What I thought the Seahawks really needed to improve last year was I never really felt like the running backs were ever one or two in (a passing play’s) progression,” Hasselbeck said on Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk. “Like, if the running backs were gonna catch a pass, it was because it was just a designed screen or they just were like a check-down. But they were never number one.”
