Not only was he very highly regarded, but in the biggest game of his life, the Rose Bowl as a junior (he missed almost his entire senior year with injury), he caught 15 passes for 347 yards and three TDs. Just totally insane numbers in that kind of a game. And we've seen how it's turned out.Bil522 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 5:43 amHere's my 1 cent's worth of analysis...Yes, Kade is older but he pitched at LSU and was the #1 starter for the team that won the College WS and he was named Most Outstanding Player for the WS tournament. That is pressure and balls in that kind of environment; that makes AA cake for him. Sloan has a TON less experience than Kade does, with being drafted out of HS and not playing college. Kade is ready to go and be in the M's rotation; Sloan needs. another year of seasoning. It is like who would you rather have Glavine or Smoltz....personally I'll take both.

And his passing stats in college were pretty blah. If he was such a good quarterback then why didn't he throw good? Right?D-train wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 6:53 pmBut everyone LOVED Milroe's potential....And we saw how that turned out.....DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 4:59 pmThis reminds me of Jaxson Smith-Njigba. Baseball America is weighing potential a lotRoss Jensen
@rossjensen
Replying to @rossjensen
92. Ryan Sloan | SEA, A+, SP, 19
Peak Projections: 4.13 ERA, 7 K/9, 1.37 WHIP
Drafted 55th overall in 2024, the 6'5" hurler made a dominant professional debut in 2025. Across 82 innings between Single-A Modesto and High-A Everett, Sloan posted a 3.73 ERA with 90 strikeouts and him the Mariners’ Minor League Pitcher of the Year honors.
Armed with a high-90s fastball and an advanced changeup, Sloan enters the 2026 season as a consensus top-100 prospect, widely regarded as one of the highest-upside young arms in baseball.
Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Tough Call but Felnin plays a premium position is a Switch hitter, more athletic and better hit tool so I would go with him. All the Rankings services still have Laz higher because Felnin just started hitting this season....

Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Would 1 of them net us Aroldis.
Jim Bowden posed an interesting idea. We've got Boston coming to town this weekend. Going to get a good look at all their potential targets. Since we're probably desperate at this point for a bullpen piece with Brash out till end of July, he proposed sending someone like Sloan over to Boston for both Chapman & Duran. That seems like a lot. Hard to give up on good young pitching. Not that we need Duran. Hard to argue with his speed. I mean he would although us to use Randy at DH. Chapman is the main piece but giving up someone with Sloans potential is a tough sell. What say you DT? If your GM do you make that deal for win now?
Re: Kade vs. Sloan
That would be the worst trade in the Jerry era and that's saying something.....Like you said we don't need Duran and he has been sucking this season. Both Laz and Felnin are also worth massively more than Chapman give his age and salary and the fact he is a reliever. Not saying we shouldn't target Chapman but Jerry doesn't spend money on relievers and we could get him for a mid prospect like Luke Stevenson instead.

Re: Kade vs. Sloan
If Jerry doesn't spend on relievers why did he target Duran last year. Your paying half his salary this year & we don't even know about next year with potential of lockout. What difference is there between last year & now. Stevenson is valuable is he still an overpay it feels like an overpay. Its like the Skubal debate your getting him for 3 months maybe more what's that worth to your team. Its a tough call but feels like a necessary one given the state of our bullpen. You either go for it or you don't. I like Stevenson too so that would suck. If he doesn't think adding someone like Chapmans caliber to a potential world series roster he's even dumber than we thought. If they were so worried about finances why the fuck did they pay Naylors bloated ass or trade for Donovan. It makes sense its just finding worthy value. Like trading for Suarez last year.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 8:39 pmThat would be the worst trade in the Jerry era and that's saying something.....Like you said we don't need Duran and he has been sucking this season. Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Duran was only making $4M last season so he would have paid him about $1.3M for 2 months. And he was only 27 yo. not 38 yo like Chapman.
