Sunday July 5th Game thread Yesavage vs Hancock

What an important game!
For several reasons
  • the mariners-they just reclaimed 1st place. Can they hold off Texas?
Dan Wilson- Vultures are circling overhead, winning this series will save his ass for awhile)
Final audition Emerson Hancock Trey Yesavage is a beast! If Hancock wins this game without Polanco? Where does he stand?
No lineups yet, but I interested in your thoughts about the importance of this game, keeping the momentum up,etc. Today's game was fantastic but it needs to become a breakout game, not an outlier.

Maybe the solution is that you should be "connected" to Pharmabro as one living organism, much as two trees can become one when their branches become fused together in a manner akin to grafting. The resultant conjoined participants will then share one record of wins and losses as well as the responsibility of starting game threads when their turn comes around.

Or we could wait until MostonMike wakes up and decides what should be done.

Scouting thoughts
Today's game (July 5, 2026) is the rubber match of the series at T-Mobile Park: Toronto Blue Jays (42-47) vs. Seattle Mariners (46-44), with first pitch around 4:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM PT.
Prediction
Slight to Hancock/home advantage + Mariners' elite rotation depth, but Yesavage's stuff makes it competitive. Mariners are modest favorites (~55-60% implied win prob, around -130 moneyline).
Injuries
Mariners missing star CF Julio Rodríguez (7-day concussion IL after taking a throw to the helmet; earliest return ~July 10+).
Blue Jays have multiple IL pieces (including George Springer on paternity leave) and have dealt with significant injuries/playoff hangover (Vlad Guerrero Jr. power way down).
Implications
This is a winnable home game for Seattle to take the series and maintain/improve their slim AL West lead. Hancock gives them a chance to limit damage, and the bullpen + park should help. Yesavage is a beast though—expect a lower-scoring affair (O/U around 7.5).

I'd say it's up to MostonMike since he started the contest thread.
You dont want a Brit telling you what to do, surely ?   Especially on such a historic day. ;)

But for what its worth - yeah it should be Terry's guest run and he should start as many threads until next loss.

Go for it..
.
Thank you Mike, Muito Obrigado!

So there's no thoughts of piggybacking today with Hancock and Kirby but they had been planning to do it with Gilbert yesterday up until some point on Friday when someone got a clue.

Only Cole Wilcox was used in relief yesterday so the whole bullpen is rested and available if necessary. Off day tomorrow so no need for Dan to hold back on reliever usage.
Maybe, preferably, Emerson Hancock goes 7+ innings with very minimal Blue Jay resistance.
Today's lineup looks strong. Contributions by Crawford and Raley today would be much appreciated.
Cal is batting 3rd and DHing; Garver is behind the dish.
It's a good day for Toronto to sink and disappear beneath the Sound.

Noticed that the BJ's 2Bman is the M's 38 game 3Bman from 2024, Luis Urias. Advantage: Cole Young

I am probably not able to watch this game, live. It's on Peacock.I have MLB.COM for twenty years but no TV for thirty years. I will watch the game on gameday and listen to the audio I guess. Watch the game later. The Rainiers come on a bit after one o'clock,I think.~~I see with Rocky's lineups that Garver is behind the plate', Raleigh is the DH, so we lose Canzone... but then Yesavage is a rather nasty lefty? or is he a righty? That's not good.
