Yeah, for soccer. I can live with that.mostonmike wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2026 3:04 pmHa, so you don't get that you are the laughing stock of the World? Like the ENTIRE fucking world .....![]()
It's like only being the understudy for your high school play.

Haha! I respect your passion, Mike. I actually watched the whole game yesterday and enjoyed it. Not the loss by the US, but just the game itself. The US first half was flat. Second half looked like we preferred heroics over strategy. The Belgians clearly outmatched us on all levels. The goalkeeping antics...just embarassing. I used to watch a lot on tv due to my wife being a player. It's definitely a game you can get into. You're not a "hooligan" are you?

Which is what the rest of the world thinks about the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. A "World Champion" of a sport that only 1 country (maybe 2) playsWalla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2026 3:24 pmYeah, for soccer. I can live with that.![]()

Nah, I am not a hooligan. It was quite scary going to games in the 80s though. Thankfully most of it is quite calm and gentrified now but sometimes it can flare up and some games like the "Old Firm" Glasgow derby are to be avoided. England v Scotland used to be an annual Friendly game but they had to stop it due to fear of someone dying.Peepaw wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2026 3:27 pmHaha! I respect your passion, Mike. It's nice that there's a game for the dainty little fellas that can't play any real sports.

Here's an odd question. Did you see the Mariners game when the US team did all the pre-game guff like first pitch and that?
Why did every single player wear a Mariners cap? Didnt they all have their own teams? I wouldnt wear a Liverpool FC scarf or cap if I was asked to do something cermonious in their city.
I wouldnt even wear a Red Sox cap if they asked me to sing your national anthem at Fenway. (Imagine that
I found it a bit bizarre.

No, I didn't.mostonmike wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2026 4:19 pmHere's an odd question. Did you see the Mariners game when the US team did all the pre-game guff like first pitch and that?

But my guess would be because soccer players are dainty little men who can't play baseball, so they probably have no favorite team, so what do they care. Like a bunch of adorable little Altuve's.

In the early 80's I was a kibbutz volunteer in Israel. There were plenty of Europeans, English, Irish, Swedes (mostly girls) there. One time a vociferous English guy went around the whole dining hall at lunch and organized an evening match. I got tapped on the shoulder - "Football?" I indicated yes. This American ended up scoring one of the few goals with a razor thin kick for the right side corner that got past the Swedish goalie. I earned a little cred for that. Then the next week the Euros ran me ragged in basketball!mostonmike wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2026 4:01 pmNah, I am not a hooligan. It was quite scary going to games in the 80s though. Side note. The Swedish girls found out it was my birthday and came and flooded my nearly ancient quarters and sang me Swedish songs, treated me nice
