All good, my friend! We all know that you have been a cherished member of the forum for years staying up all hours of the night following and honoring America's pastime and for some reason our pathetic favorite team and I can fully understand why you would expect at least a bit up respect for your country's top sport. God speed my brother! We owe you a case of tea.mostonmike wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2026 9:35 amQuite right Darren.
I think the thread went off on a cultural tangent and DavidGee is right that it touched a nerve with me.
How about this as an observation. The World Cup is held every four years and the football family would do anything to be given the honour of hosting it.
That honour was given to Qatar last time and now the USA. It's fine if anyone doesn't like football, but why treat it like it's a tin-pot joke? It isn't.
We would love to host a Super Bowl at Wembley and would treat it with great respect. How about America doing the same with the World Cup?
Some of it is funny - go Jason! But some was more undignified including me throwing shade at DavidGee, who is a good guy —a HERO even—and for which I am truly sorry.
No baseball tonight so thought I would throw up a WC thread

And we're ALL heroes here...well, 54% of the time, anyway.
