I remember when the Rangers got Gore I said that it probably wasn't going to be a big deal and Seattle Or Bust extolled Gore's abilities. At this moment Gore has a 4.80 ERA and a 0.5 WAR in 21 starts. I actually thought I'd lose that debate and I still won it (pats self on back).

So I just looked at the Rangers' hitting and pitching stats and am wondering how in the hell they've managed to play .500 ball. Their Pythagorean is 48-54. They have a lights-out closer but just about all of their pitching is mediocre.

23 straight games without scoring in the 1st inning, eight shy of the MLB record, and almost every single one has been 1-2-3. Arozarena and Julio both miss meatballs, and Canzone looked like he'd never seen an off-speed pitch even though he got three that were hittable. Just completely unprepared to play every single game.
