Re: Official MLB Trade Deadline Thread (Rumors and Ideas Welcome)
An interesting wrinkle...
I say Otto Lopez should be the next domino here after the Castillo trade.
The Marlins have 3x really good, young starting pitchers in Alcantra, Meyer, and Perez... their 2x top prospects are top 100 pitchers who are in AAA and ready to make their debuts down the stretch.
Perhaps the M's can trade for Otto Lopez and keep Emerson Hancock? Then look to trade a starter in the off season to make room for Kade?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lopez go to the Dodgers.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 2:58 amAn interesting wrinkle...

They don't have to do anything. I would rather have QO comp that what 2 months of Randy is worth.

Why would they trade their best player that isn't a FA until 2030???GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 4:07 amI wouldn't be surprised to see Lopez go to the Dodgers.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 2:58 amAn interesting wrinkle...

Edman is raking at 2B and they're not gonna sit Betts.

How low payroll teams operate. Move em for prospects before you pay em. Take advantage of a career year. They said they're listening on him.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 4:14 amWhy would they trade their best player that isn't a FA until 2030???GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 4:07 amI wouldn't be surprised to see Lopez go to the Dodgers.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 2:58 amAn interesting wrinkle...

Their no. 3 overall prospect is the former no. 7 overall pick... SS Aiva Arquette (who was a popular choice before Kade Anderson became available) that will likely be with the club at the end of '27.

Why would the Marlins trade him??? And who are we going to offer if not a SP???Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 2:58 amAn interesting wrinkle...

When was the last time they had anyone worth trading?
Re: Official MLB Trade Deadline Thread (Rumors and Ideas Welcome)
I doubt they would offer the QO but they might. It's hard to imagine a player having Randy's year accepting it. But the other consideration is the lockout and the new CBA, which may nix the QO system altogether.
But I'm with you that the QO is probably preferable. Two month rentals tend to not get that much at the deadline.
