We're worse now from where I'm sitting.

I'd take that Cruz/Cano/Trumbo team any day over these mediocre boring losers.
From where you're sitting do you not see 90 wins in 2021, 2022, and 2025?

Cano and Cruz never won 90 games.

I do feel you on the hitting vs pitching thing, though. Offensive struggles are painful to watch. At least when you lose 15-10 there are a lot of souvenirs flying into the stands. Cano and Cruz was my peak fandom. That's back when I used to buy jerseys and shit.

But 2022 and 2025 were far beyond boring. These days I rarely sit and watch a game. But, if the Mariners hit the post season I'm gonna watch those from beginning to end. I also do like many of the players. I like Julio, Woo, Kirby, Logan, Canzone, Randy, Robles, Naylor. I'm a huge Munoz fan. I love Brash. Speier is cool. I like Donavan.

Cal is the one that's pissing me off. My brain can hardly even compute the magnitude of his fall off. If Cal was even halfway decent this year the Ms would be in a far better position. He has sucked so bad.

I'd say it's more that I'm not impressed by 90 wins in the absence of a trophy.

90 wins is meaningless to me. They might as well have won 80. Or 70.

Cano and Cruz would've won 90 games in Traitor Jerry's first year if his dumbass hadn't traded Trumbo away and brought in Nori Aoki and Wade Miley as his finishing touches to the roster...

I think the team's been boring pretty much every year. It's just finally hitting home that Dipoto alwayyyyyys stops when everyone knows we're actually one or two moves short.

If we know it, why doesn't he know it...

Because he only has to play for 54% is his tiny mind. You never go for it. You hope that one of these years an Edwin Diaz or a Cal Raleigh has a season that puts you over the top.

So we've gotten close!

But they're boring because what they're missing is an actual star in the lineup despite trying to push Cal into the role he's too timid for. Even Cal knows he's not "the guy". It's obvious looking at his demeanor and doughy cheeks.

So you put that MOTO label on him and he folds like a wet bag.

We have a lineup filled with average to goodish players.

What about 116 wins in he absence of a trophy?

90 wins is how they got to the ALCS. 70 wins is horrible. 90 wins is very good. So, you don't care about the team being good? I thought that was the whole point of the discussion.

If the only thing that matters to you is the trophy, then you should know that Cubs fans waited 107 seasons. White Sox fans waited 87 seasons. Red Sox fans waited 85 seasons. Phillies fans waited 77 seasons. Guardians fans are still waiting at 77 seasons. You don't think they ever had good seasons or competent GMs during those stretches?

You thought Game 7 of the ALCS was boring?

No, I don't care about 116 wins.

The ALCS run was fun. They still should've done more that season and maybe they'd have won. Dipoto sucks.

I think the only seasons that "matter", for any team, is when they win the world series. The whole reason you play the games.

Ricky Bobby said it best. If you ain't first, you're last.

Well like I said, Cubs fans waited 107 seasons. White Sox fans waited 87 seasons. Red Sox fans waited 85 seasons. Phillies fans waited 77 seasons. Guardians fans are still waiting at 77 seasons. You think that is all based on their GMs sucking? Not really, a lot of it has to do with the fact that there are 30 teams in the league and 29 of them aren't bringing home the trophy. You can have a great GM and still not win the WS. All it takes is one team to beat you.

The Brewers are still searching for their first WS title after 57 years of existence. They're playing great. But, they could easily get beat by the Dodgers and then their whole season doesn't matter? I think captivating the fans and taking them for an exciting ride counts for something even if you fall short of the ultimate prize. Case in point is the fun you admit having during the ALCS run. It's the same thing with a 90 win season versus a 70 win season. In other words, it's a measure of the fun and excitement that's generated. Post season series wins can have an immense impact even if the team doesn't ultimately win the whole thing. Edgar's double is a perfect example.

Second place doesn't matter.

They had a great season, but if the Brewers don't win they'll just be 58 year losers at seasons end.

And Dipoto has been terrible leading the Mariners. Incapable of assembling a winner. So move on from him.

They made the ALCS, so a pretty similar smashing success to what you keep telling us last year is, and why you are excusing the garbage product they put on the field this year. 12th in a Shitty AL, and by your own numbers? Now barely top 10 Farm System. So, he drained the Farm and we now have a shitty Major League team. Wow, what a fucking success story. I wonder if they will make a 30 for 30 about it?

As for 116. Isn't that the year the only player they added at the deadline was Joey Creek? Or some shit like that? More penny pinching cost them, IMO.

You shouldn't have to do much at the deadline if you're setting the all-time wins record. That was actually a weird deal, because it coincided with 9/11 and they got beat by the New York Yankees. (didn't stop Arizona, though)

ALCS is definitely a strong result, especially in terms of Mariners franchise history. But, after winning 116 freaking games it was a massive disappointment. Not completely atypical though.

2022: Braves finished 101–61 They lost the NLDS to the wild-card Phillies (87–75)
2023: Braves finished 104–58 They lost the NLDS to the wild-card Phillies (90–72)

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

The farm system ranking will ebb and flow a bit as you graduate guys to the big league club. The farm is far from "drained". Part of your arch-enemy Jerry Dipoto's process has been to avoid mortgaging the future.

They got 4 top 100 bats on the farm

Michael Arroyo, 2B/OF – #45
Felnin Celesten, SS – #50
Lazaro Montes, OF – #56
Jonny Farmelo, OF – #73

In the grand scheme of things, absolutely true.

In a game where winning the World Series is the goal (other than profits), not so true.
