Those that watch this fucking team for any stretch and worry about anything more than the offense confuse the shit out of me.

Re: Fat lady sings on the 2026 season
The thought that this team can value positional flexibility, platooning and defense, and win? Blows me away.
Does anyone think this is about anything other than saving money? Does anyone think that deciding that we are about draft and develop rather than signing big names in FA is about anything more than a cost savings in salary? They enter every March with an inferior product and ask for patience and point to the trade deadline. It's worked twice and they want us to believe it's a success. It is for them, because they get to save money right up until the end of July and the fans are fooled and keep paying money!
They didn't believe that signing a guy like Donovan to play 3rd made them better, but they knew they could sell it to the fan base. The guy should have never been at 3rd, but it would cost them less than signing a guy at third that can really slug and could actually get on the field. Why? Because other teams value productive bats more than young cheap talent and defensive flexibility so they choose not to run out a limp dick platoon lineup.
Bringing in Donovan as a utility guy would have made sense. But that would have meant paying a guy to actually get on the field and hit like a 3rd baseman. Not an option.

There is plenty of blame to go around.

Last in runs scored. Dead effing last.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2026 2:39 pmThey are 20th in ERA+ and 21st in OPS+Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2026 12:29 pmThose that watch this fucking team for any stretch and worry about anything more than the offense confuse the shit out of me.

As I said, worry about anything MORE than the offense. If the offense is 20th in Runs scored, do you think we are out of the playoff race right now? 20th is bad, dead last fucking STINKS. And all we heard was how they were better. Bullshit. Anyone that looked at the playoff lineup and then looked at game one this year? KNEW they weren't better. But this fan base buys the turd sandwich that this organization sells and gobbles it up every year.
Dead Fucking Last. After the way they finished last year? Zero excuse. Promise upon promise that they would rebuild and then add once it made sense, only to have them cry poor all offseason. That was intentional. Let's pretend that we have no money, so it's OK when we put a sub par product on the field to start the season. Dogshit franchise.

If they played in a neutral ballpark they wouldn't be dead last in runs scored and their pitchers ERA's would be way higher. Their Road ERA is 4.80. The only teams with an ERA higher than 4.80 are the A's and the Rockies. Look I am not saying their offense isn't a problem It certainly is. But their Pitching is almost as bad. If their pitching was league average they would be in first place right now.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2026 2:46 pmLast in runs scored. Just don't agree with the fact that a league average pitching staff would put the worst offense in baseball in first place. Take Miller out of the pitching and do it again? Miller lost three games by what, forty runs? That's still only three loses. This offense wouldn't be in first place in any division, even this dogshit one they play in now.

If they played in a neutal ballpark they'd still be at least very close to dead last in runs scored. They've really only had three road series this season where the offense clicked, in Sacramento, Houston and Boston. They're averaging only 4.1 runs per game on the road (3.8 at home) so at best they'd jump ahead of a few teams.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2026 3:45 pmIf they played in a neutral ballpark they wouldn't be dead last in runs scored and their pitchers ERA's would be way higher. The pitching staff is giving up 5.0 runs per game on the road so in a neutral park they'd probably be very close to bottom-five and you hit the nail on the head on that one.
As far as which is the bigger concern, DEFINITELY the offense. Our starting pitchers are better than what they've shown this season and should be able to bounce back, plus we're adding Anderson and probably Sloan to the mix. The bullpen is a big problem that needs to be addressed, but more than anything we need hitters. They suck no matter where they play.

I worry about more than the offense. The offense in most years isn't good and that probably won't change so long as they are playing in this ballpark, which means it won't change. So I think a lot about other aspects of the game.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2026 12:29 pmThose that watch this fucking team for any stretch and worry about anything more than the offense confuse the shit out of me.

If they changed their hitting philosophy it would change drastically. Fuck HRs give me doubles & maybe even triples all day. Steal some bases. Make the game exciting. Draw more walks. If the only reason you come to the ballpark is to see HRs your not a true fan.

Re: Fat lady sings on the 2026 season
Last season they were 10th in ops, and ninth in scoring. So what happened? I contend its three players, Naylor, Julio and Cal. Everyone is like, fire everybody, trade everybody when in my mind that's it, those three. I don't think any of them are getting traded. I think we are stuck with hoping they don't suck next season. They can add something to the lineup but it's really going to come down to those three not sucking again isn't it?GL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2026 7:44 pmI worry about more than the offense.
