Post Mortem Seattle v SF
Post Mortem Seattle v SF
The shit show hath endeth. Or is it just beginning?
A solid defensive performance utterly wasted by a completely inept offense.
What is going on in football these days? All Philly needs to win is to cover a kick off. All the Redskins need to to is - literally - not let the clock run out. What am I seeing? Absolute madness, ineptness, braindeadness. The trend is painful to watch.
Then Seattle comes along and shouts to the skies "We're doing our part!"
I kept telling my friend "we're playing to kick field goals. We're playing to kick field goals."
Game changing moment:
Seattle takes the lead (mysteriously doesn't go for two there to go up by three - which was baffling), gets a huge turnover, and then? Marches exactly no where and then? Kicks a field goal. That was a crucial turning point in the game for me. Hang six, go up by two scores, and you can feel the momentum completely swing Seattle's way. I told my friend, "we should go for it on 4th here because a FG here is really a SF win. Gotta put this away now." You can see the white flag waving proudly.
For those lamanting the spot of the ball - I say to you "make a better play." The spot was fine - it was the spot this hapless offense earned.
Officiating benefitted Seattle. Grounding? Really? Suss.
Yes, JSN should have caught the ball, but he was also the totality of the offense. Oddly, he has had a couple of huge drops this year. Wild.
Shaheed had two big plays, a big catch and run and a great defensive effort on another poorly thrown ball by The Darnold.
Where is Shaheed? Why is he not being made an integral part of this offense? I am not even bothering to address the fumbling, I'm just enjoying the Benny Hill music running through my brain as I watch Seattle inside the 5 - for no explainable reason - run the ball from a deep set back formation - said back proceeds to bumble, stumble, fumble. I lol'd, I swear I did. "Of course he fumbles. Why wouldn't he?" Why would we not look like a Benny HIll sketch? Are you not entertained?
I want to know why we are trotting out the slowest RB's in the league, the slowest players on the team, and tossing them the ball on sweeps? Wouldn't Shaheed make more sense in this situation, you know, a guy with burner speed who can get around the corner before the sun sets? I don't understand the logic here. We are excluding one of our most valuable assets - literally our big play guy with blazing speed, to toss the ball to, George Holani? Huh?
The worst part about this loss is that I wasn't even mad. I expected this. I shrugged and justv accepted it. Literally snaring defeat from the jaws of victory. Sometimes I think we are living in a simulation. The loss to Washington, penaltypalooza vs the Chargers, and yesterday's Benny Hill display of utter ineptness. This loss didn't bother me because we absolutely EARNED it in every way imaginable. Indifference is settling in.
Oh, wait, hold on, while writing this we just tried another toss sweep to our 4th string guard who got stuffed, and now we're lining up for another FG! Yay!
I guess we're gonna witness growing pains for a while with Fleury. Gonna suck hauling this shitshow to Denver and getting embarrassed, then against KC, and then seeing us just above the Tardinals in the standings, cause it's coming. But what's worse is the rift coming between an inept, rudderless offense and a proud defense who are doing their job. It's all kumbaya when you're winning. We ain't winning. We are losing in embarrassing fashion - Darnold is front and center in the "WTF" is happening equation. He looks lost, jittery, late, and, again, leaving 10,000 yards on the field his legs could have picked up. Cue the Benny Hill music as he pirouettes into a sack, avoiding first down yardage his legs couldn have gained.
Go hawks...
I don't think it's knee jerk to question why we absolutely refuse to use Shaheed, and why Lock is still on the bench.
There is not team I loathe more then Denver. The Lambs are closing in, but this thursday's blowout loss in the Mile High Outhouse is gonna sting.

Great post Jeff, especially pointing out the limp dicked settling for FGs fucking bullshit.
Only thing I disagree with is losing Thursday. Thank God we don't have to wait a full week to get this nightmare out of our memory banks....

I am just thankful that John Schneider isn't second-guessing himself for not franchised tagging walker. As long as he sleeps well I sleep well.

Re: Post Mortem Seattle v SF
I don't lament the walker move. It was probably the right one. We have ample RB's - they're just injured. In the long game - I am not sure Walker can sustain over 17 games - that's a lot of mileage - injury is probable. We also grabbed a great RB in the draft - much cheaper - freeing up cash to pay others. All logical moves. We skipped the injury bug last season - not this one. We also have a major draft haul coming up. Losing walker feels painful now, but that doesn't make it the wrong move. When you look at the injuries SF sustained last year - and then still won 12 games - that is really really remarkable.
It's one thing to get outplayed - it's another to make so many incredibly bad plays that they play out to a Benny Hill soundtrack - it's just cringe. This offense should be embarrassed at that performance. They should be ashamed. Let's see any moves JS makes this week 'cause the back up RB's not named WIlson gotta go. And for fuck sake get the fucking ball in Shaheeds hands. I mean wtf are we even doing here? Not even ONE jet sweep just to fuck with the defense? Really? REALLY?
In the time it took me to write that we just ran another toss sweep to the Slurpee Machine Tech who ran a blazing 27.24 forty. Failed. Not shocked.

Re: Post Mortem Seattle v SF
This team is 5 and 0 if they don't turn the ball over repeatedly. Maybe Walker solves that, but I'm not sure. One less INT from Sam in each game and we win both of them and no one cares that Walker is in KC. The bigger loss was Kubiak. Fleury is ass.
Re: Post Mortem Seattle v SF
Fleury is ass. I still don't get the logic of lining up Holani at the 3 yard line in a deep I-formation for that play at the end of the first half.Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 2:50 pmThis team is 5 and 0 if they don't turn the ball over repeatedly. Why would Darnold just not fall forward 3 times on the line of scrimmage, and if you have to punt with a few seconds left, so be it. So the 49ers had 3 timeouts. Who gives a fuck. Fall on the ball and punt it out of there. Dickson can boom it past the 50 and the 49ers dont get shit.
Just stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. Between Fleury and Darnold both having low football IQs, we're in deep shit trouble.
Re: Post Mortem Seattle v SF
It was a really interesting dilemma - if we do that - SF calls three time outs and very likely gets the ball back - likely near the 50 - wiht time for a couple plays and a FG chance. Did we use a FB on that play? Be a good place/time to run a fullback dive there. The deep set was absolutely baffling.XpertDBA wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 3:40 pmFleury is ass. Also, why was that punt not fielded? We gave up ten yards on that. Huge difference maker in that situation. Just brutal fucking decision making all the way around.

Re: Post Mortem Seattle v SF
Special teams have been not very special so far this year. That is confusing to me. I felt it was a pretty big advantage we had last year!
As for falling forward three times? I don't know....but I agree that running it so deep in the endzone was a dumb idea. Let's not pretend that fumbling hasn't been an issue with this team.
