Hawks and Clowney might be close..
Re: Hawks and Clowney might be close..
I am concerned that we have heard "close" for 2 days and no "done deal" yet.
Re: Hawks and Clowney might be close..
I agree - if he's considering 1 year deals now he might choose another team just because his feelings are hurt if we really were stupid enough to offer him 13-14mill/year to start, lol.

You only forgot our Ice Bowl win due to the missed chip shot FG by the Blair Walsh project...Michael K. wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:46 pmMy sentiments exactly. As I said earlier...every team in our division has won the division and advanced to the NFCCG more recently than we have, and two others have been to the Super Bowl more recently than we have. The Cards were a Cam Newton Super Man season away from making it three for three in Super Bowls. So, why is it that everyone just thinks that because we do something it must be the right thing? The Cards added the best receiver in the NFL and the 49ers added a first round pick by getting rid of one of the five stud DLinemen they have....which is honestly probably four more than we have. I will call Irvin and Reed each a half to get us one!Lamda wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:32 pmEven if we sign Clowney - have we even made the team better? Amazingly we had all that money to spend supposedly and aside from Olsen, whom I think is an upgrade but I know some don't, we basically just kept the team together and that was it. As far as the D goes it will be to see if Clowney can stay healthy all year as he played a lot of games hurt and missed some, and how much Irvin will make a difference, if any. We had an ok OLine and let almost all of them walk to restock them with ok players in return. We should have gone all-in on either the offense or D. We should have traded for Diggs or another legit WR via Trade/Signing, or did like Pro said and signed Clowney and traded for Ngaouke.
Here's hoping we draft well because this has been a very uninspiring offseason so far.
As DT so painfully pointed out a few months ago, if it hasn't been for a dogshit Detroit team and an Eagles team with a 45 year old QB and a WRing group lead by a college QB? We might not have one single playoff win since the miracle comeback against Green Bay. So, why does everyone just automatically assume that we are in the right?
Our last two first round picks barely played as rookies...yet we all think that we will just save this team in the draft. Hell, not that long ago our best draft pick was a PUNTER! Needless to say I am worried. Not that we will suck, I believe we will contend. But we will contend because of Russ, not because we have optimized the ability to surround him with talent. I sure hope I am wrong, but really...I just posted this on another topic, but how is this team right now better than the one that in December and January could only manage a win against a Panther team that had quit on the season and two wins against a beat up Eagles team?
The Cards are better, the NFC Champs certainly haven't gotten any worse, and their draft pick is far ahead of ours. Hell, cutting Gurley has freed up cap space for the Rams. We signed Olsen, Irvin, a handful of backup O Lineman and re-signed Reed.

Re: Hawks and Clowney might be close..
Don't worry, we will draft a bunch of guys nobody has ever heard of and when they don't perform it will because they missed a couple practices in early August and that PC is REALLY excited about the growth they will have as second year players and they have a really good chance to "contribute" in 2021.

Re: Hawks and Clowney might be close..
It was against not signing Clark. If you recall I was bombarded with "Clark isn't that good " replies.. They survived that fiasco ( They got a generational talent at WR too) only because they had a contingency plan. .Clowney. Now they need to resign Clowney. How arrogant of that FO to think they can play musical chairs with a position so important. They need to resign Clowney.and then trade for Ngakoue or Judon. I adamant against bringing in Griffen just as much as I was against Ansah. . Not only do I think he won't be effective here ( he could in a situational role) Read this. This is the player you want on the roster?D-train wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 12:19 pm

If they screw this up. The Cap space and the draft picks.
Especially with the Oline talent available. This is it.

you guys make some shitty card players...from the SI article that was posted earlier...The formula for a team to stay on top in the NFL long-term is simple to say, but nearly impossible to execute: don’t overpay; focus on improving the entire team, draft well, and wait in free agency... JS has stayed on the top of the NFL and that is how he has done it.
Re: Hawks and Clowney might be close..
It is utterly astounding to me how people just look for reasons to complain about the Seahawk's and the front office. No team in the league, sans the Pats, have even come close to Seattle's success under this regime. A team that has placed 1st or 2nd NINE OUT OF TEN SEASONS in what has been one of the most brutal division in the league - and people are complaining? Wow, just fucking wow.
Last year, out of the blue, this team went 10-2 and was battling for the division lead, and even had it for a minute, which has to be one of the greatest accomplishments in team and division history, when you look at the quality of the lambs and 9ers - who only had loaded rosters because they bottomed out into last place for several years. Look at the chart below. Seattle ain't bottomed out in 10 years.
Injuries complete derailed this team last season - not shitty coaching or JC bumbling at his job. Seattle was the talk of the league. It's astonishing that people fail to use that contest when lamenting how we didn't make a SB run, while somehow suggesting PC and JC are to blame - when it was injuries, nothing else, that prevented that last season. In the Eagles playoff game there was a graphic showing the game featured the two most injury ravaged teams in the history of the playoffs. But yeah, I guess that is somehow PC and JC fucking it all up, especially all the running backs getting injured - I am sure someone else would have had at least three other All Pro RB's on the bench to cover that scenario.
As usual, people desperate to push their false narratives about just how bad we have it by cherry picking the front office misses and ignoring the OVERWHELMING success, it just rings hollow. The same folks bitching about "ohhhhh my gaaaaawwwwwwd they had a red flag!" when judging someone who didn't pan, out CONVENIENTLY ignore the red flag tags on Marshawn, Clark, Clowney, DK, etc, etc, etc. Where is the rage about those players? The exact same philosophy applies, so, where is the rage? That's called cherry picking to further a (completely false) narrative.
For those that have an ax to grind with every single thing this front office does or doesn't do, don't worry, you'll get your wish. They'll be gone soon so will RW, and this era of Seahawks football, the greatest run this city has ever seen - in any sport - and one of the great runs in the salary cap era - and they'll bottom out - and then you'll actually have something to complain about.
Look at the chart below and remember you have the Mariners as a perfect example of just how lucky Seahawk fans are. Show some f*cking gratitude. And use context when bitching and moaning. An epic 10-2 out of nowhere, season destroyed by injuries, and people are bitching. Unfucking believable.

Since our last Super Bowl loss two teams in our division have also lost the Super Bowl. We have won a few WC round weekend games.
You give John a lot of credit for drafting Russell Wilson. Green Bay has come under a lot of fire for how they have under utilized the prime of their Franchise QB. Good to know you are good with Russ's prime being victories over Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings, a very bad Detroit team and an even worse Philly team. I am sure when Russ retires or leaves we will all look fondly over the past few years and talk about the great draft picks and FA moves we made to really maximize the time our Franchise QB was here.

Stay on the top, we have been treading water. There have been so many excuses. But ThIS? All the talk of cap space and what we could do and we have added three backup O Lineman, Bruce Irvin and Jarron Reed and an old TE that had one foot in the TV booth! Good thing we maximized all that cap space right? Even if we do sign Clowney now, unless they have a draft like the ones that brought us the LOB and Russ Wilson? We are no better, and possibly worse than last year!
Aurora....we all know the playoff history here. Coaches all over the league loss their jobs when they don't maximize talent. Going 1 and 1 in the playoffs and going 5 straight years without winning the Division is not doing that at all with a Franchise QB. It's been five years since second and goal.

Re: Hawks and Clowney might be close..
On the other hand you could be the Rams and take a shot at it and then fall apart, or the 49ers and spend years putting a team together, you are correct, teams do that while the Hawks have consistency made the playoffs. There are any number of ways to go about it i guess. I don't have an issue with JS's approach as you doMichael K. wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 2:57 pmOn top? Once again.
