Moe, I agree with some of what you said, but not all. "Dumb as a sack full of hammers"? Still waiting for the test results.Moe Gibbs wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2020 1:08 amThe same exact thing could be said about those Hitler Rallies. "A bunch of people come to gather on a daily basis". The angry mob of protesters provide much needed cover and support for the looters and vandals. If you think that 90% of the "Protesters" don't love to see the theft and destruction..you are either as dumb as a sack full of hammers or being very dishonest with yourself. The rest of us know better than that.gil wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:19 pmI'll ignore what seems to be an intended insult.
A bunch of people come to gather, on a daily basis. From what I have heard and read about Portland, the violence typically started later in the evening and was instigated by dozens of people, not the hundreds of people who protested peacefully. Throw the book at the thieves, vandals, and looters, as far as I'm concerned. Were they out "protesting" and exercising their 1st amendment rights too? I imagine some were. It's a tough job being a cop, but they have to be good at distinguishing between legitimate exercise of free speech and crime.
I don't have a profile of all the protestors, and I suspect you do not either. I know about 6 people who were regulars at Seattle protests, and one friend in Portland who has been to a couple there. NONE of them, as far as I know, would characterize what they part of as "an angry mob". And I know that my Seattle friends who participated HATED to see the violence. But that is a small sample size, and If you have some evidence for your 90% assertion, I'm open to hearing it.
