Another, what I hope 2021 looks like thread.
1. Jake Fraley LF
2. Mitch Haniger RF
3. Kris Bryant 3B (f/a signing)
4. Dan Vogelbach 1B/DH
5. Domingo Santana 1B/DH
6. JP Crawford SS
7. Shed Long 2B
8. Omar Narvaez/Tom Murphy C
9. Jared Kelenic CF
Dylan Moore Util
Kyle Lewis 4th OF
1. Take ur pick of these f/a's: Noah Syndergaard, Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke
2. Logan Gilbert... dominating thus far in his career.
3. Little Marco... every rotation needs its 86-88 mph lefty.
4. Kikuchi... hopefully he's figured his shit out cause he's under contract.
5. Justus Sheffield... hopefully he's figured his shit out too, cause fuck.
Bullpen is a crapshoot...
Of the current crop I like:
Connor Sadzeck... gaining confidence that he lost in Texas. 94-98... slider is essentially an amazing cutter, blows u away when ahead.
Brandon Brennen... has gone through a tough time of late, but when his stuff is on he's borderline un-hittable. 94-97... killer change.
Anthony Bass... same thing as Brennen, his stuff is incredible, but he's not missing bats... 95-98 with sink... learn to locate.
Gerson Bautista... when he learns to locate it's over. 96-100... needs to develop slider and become more of a pitcher than thrower.
Add names like Art Warren, Wyatt Mills, Justin Dunn, Darin Gillies, Dan Altavilla (assuming he figures it out) to the equation.
+ here are notable bullpen F/A's: Aroldis Chapman, Brad Hand, Corey Knebel, Raisel Iglesias, Roberto Osuna...
The way I see it is by 2021 we'll have figured out a way to get rid of Leake, Seager, Gordon... Leblanc's option wont be picked up and that's it. We're gonna have a fk ton of money to spend. Every current Mariner currently in the org, except for Kikuchi, will be under arbitration or pre-arb allowing us to go out and sign some big dogs... I like Kris Bryant, Noah Syndergaard and Raisel Iglesias personally.

Yes.
I like what you did there I do not want to add any wins to next year unless you have a special case. 2021 on the other hand and I might agree. The M's have 3 legit #1's possible. Gilbert A+ realistically could show up 2nd half next year. Carlson He had +30 points over average on his skill set as a HS draftee and he had size and time predictability over the same scored Justus current grades but I think he is 3 years away. Kirby I think if his 60 control is actually more like 70+ peak 98 with a + and 2 averages as is?? He could actually nearly catch up with Gilbert ETA 2020 late exposure to MLB.

I'd go with that for the hitters, except probably not Bryant.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 7:29 am1. Jake Fraley LF

For the rotation I would try to trade for Luis Castillo, losing Sheffield and Dunn, plus other prospects.
1. Luis Castillo
2. Marco Gonzales
3. Kikuchi
4. Logan Gilbert
5. filler = Swanson/Misiewicz/Crismatt/Newsome/Casetta-Stubbs/McCaughan
bp
Some pitchers like Povse, Delaplane, Warren, Bautista, Brennan, Festa, Bradford, Altavilla, Gillies, Mills, McClain.

Even on all the drugs in the world I can't see us in the WS with Marco and KK as our 2-3 starters.

Re: Another, what I hope 2021 looks like thread.
Looks like my prediction wasn't too far from the guy's take that u posted.
Kikuchi and Marco are on the team in 2021 almost as a given. Marco will still be somewhat cheap... Kikuchi in the final year of his deal...
Marco is the perfect #4 starter imo. He's going to get you 12-17 wins a season. Probably lose 10-12. He'll pitch around a 3.50-4.00 ERA... and we'll live with it.
I think Kikuchi is just going through the growing pains of a transition to MLB baseball. Following his rookie season in the JPPL, he pitched to like a 2.75 ERA average over 7 years. You don't do that if you don't have serious ability. The M's are going to give him the chance to prove that he's worth the contract they gave him, I think 2019 isn't a real indicator of what he's got.
If Gilbert and Sheffield make serious strides over the next 1.5 years, we could very easily see them become the no. 2 and 3 starters in 2021. Now I'm not sure how the dude who wrote that article envisions we go out and sign NO starters in the year we anticipate contending... with that crop of F/A's we'd be insane to not sign one of them if we're really trying to contend at that point. I think Dunn is destined for a bullpen role... kind of like how Diaz was a starter until they transitioned him to a closer in AA.

Kirby and Carlson are the Wildcards but yeah not seeing an Ace in the bunch.

If we had signed him it would be too soon. Thankfully they only take my advice on DHs.

Re: Another, what I hope 2021 looks like thread.
I once projected a dream lineup for the M's which had an infield of Smoak, Ackley, Franklin, and Seager....I also had giddy visions of a fabulous rotation of Paxton, Hultzen, Walker, and Felix pitching to Jesus Montero.. and thought the M's would headline the "Justin and Dustin" show... projections are fairly futile in my opinion....
Re: Another, what I hope 2021 looks like thread.
I agree with Terry, which is why I wouldnt look much further than what's on the team now as a true core.
There is no doubt they will have to spend to fill the rotation adequately, imo.
Catcher seems fixed.
NEED A 1B.
Beckham/Long can hold down 2B.
Crawford at SS.
NEED A 3B.
NEED A LF.
Haniger or Mallex in CF.
Santana or Haniger in RF.
NEED A SP1
NEED A SP2
They have a year or so to fill one or two of those with trades or prospects then fill in with free agents.
Theres no reason they shouldn't be competing for a WS in 2021 at the latest. We're only 5 significant additions away with an entire budget to expend, imo.
