Archie signs for 1 year $6M. My response included here.

https://twitter.com/shannondrayer/statu ... 9753606144

I have never been so down on our two Seattle teams simultaneously in my life.
Likely overpay for a reliever who was non-tendered with a projected 2021 arbitration salary between $4.3 million and $5.7 million.

The Phillies may be more desperate than the Mariners.

Or not. :D
A one year $6M deal is an overpay for a 28 yo Former 7th OVERALL pick who had a 2.95 ERA and a 2.59 FIP and a WHIP barely over 1.0????

I guess we are in fact back to the 1980s Jeff Smulyan days. If he is an over pay what was handing Nicasio almost $20M for 2 years. Very bad time for us to get all cheap.

Now this is an overpay.

Closer Liam Hendriks passed his physical and his $54 million signing by the #Whitesox will be officially announced today.
10x the money for a guy 4 years older. Bradley's contract will expire when he is 29yo. Hendricks will be 35yo.

its hard for me to view a one year contract as an overpay, in terms of Hendriks, its a function of where the team is positioned, if Hendriks helps them get to the WS is it an overpay? The final piece tends to be the priciest, which is okay for me. Making the initial piece the pricy one tends to be problematic, ie Robinson Cano

Not sure what to make of Taijuan Walker's mention of Portland in a tweet on Wednesday:

https://twitter.com/tai_walker

The Beavers have not been in Portland since the San Diego Padres moved the Triple A club following the 2010 season.

Nick Madrigal, the super infield prospect with the White Sox, wore No. 3 for the orange-and-black of the Oregon State Beavers in 2016-18.
I'm thinking that the Beavers jersey is likely one from Oregon State, which means Tajuan is really confused :D

Do we know what offer the Mariners made to Archie Bradley, if any?

What if Bradley turned down a one-year, $8 million offer from the M's? Or a two-year, $12 million offer? A contract requires the agreement of each party.

Fans in forums of at least 25 teams are complaining that their club is not moving fast enough ... as they do every offseason. Hot Stove discussions from previous offseasons provide great entertainment.

Perhaps Archie Bradley is the great one who got away.

Or not.

Kluber to the Yankees, 1/$11m. This has to be the biggest payout for an absolute non-season (the year before) in the history of the sport.

MLB will again have 7-inning doubleheaders and runner on 2nd base in extra innings in 2021 subject to union approval, while the two sides still are discussing universal DH and expanded postseason.
MLB rule changes: League still discussing universal DH and expanded playoffs for 2021 season
MLB plans to keep the seven-inning doubleheader and runner on second base in extra innings, but the DH and expanded playoff format still unresolved.

Double header rule isn't a big deal because they only come into play once or twice a year due to rain outs. But the extra inning rule shouldn't come into play until the 12th or 13th inning.
