A's pretty much always operate that way don't they, as I understood it, they are probably back in rebuild mode
I was just surprised at the ‘come back for less, and wait for 10 years for the whole payout’ gist of the offer. Talk about heaping on an insult :D. The article references Chapman and Olsen being on team-favorable contracts for now, but in line for big payouts next winter. You gotta be wondering what’s going through their minds, considering this.

(Blue sky dreaming, I’d love to see Chapman here as Seager’s replacement, as an investment of the bundle of cash we will no doubt continue to compile by then.)

Seattle GM Jerry Dipoto, speaking with beat reporter Shannon Drayer: In the past 7-10 days the club "made some progress on a few and come up short on others and actually lost a few free agents we thought we had a decent chance of landing." The Mariners continue to seek a lefthand-hitting veteran, according to Drayer's tweet:

And they just lost out on Joc Pederson. I hope the owners get their rocks off staring at their P and L statement this season.....

Yeah, that was odd, would assume Chapman and Olsen are on the trade block, when was the last time the As kept a guy from going to free agency?

That seems to be the usual way this organization operates. Their big payoff is going to the owner's meetings where they can stand around sipping single malt scotch and smoking cigars while rubbing elbows with the rest of the owners. They look around and tell themselves that they didn't have to pay a lot to be included in the club!

At the beginning of the Hot Stove season, I felt the M's should go after Didi Gregorius, versatile infielder. I think 40M for 3 years might do it, but odds are he heads to the Phillies. Besides, he's black, he's a 6;3" Dutchman, and he speaks four languages so he covers all the bases on diversity..except gender identification

With the first name of Didi he could go there if need be.

Can't convince me we couldn't have beat that offer.

Pederson and Rosario were such simple upgrades.

I guess the good news is if they aren't going to attempt to win again, at least its an easy excuse not to watch.
