I think the Yankees could decide to move on from Anthony Volpe, and they could view JP as a modest upgrade with one year left on his deal. The Dodgers are another one to watch as they may prefer to put Mookie back in the outfield. Or, they could put JP at 2B and move Tommy Edman back into the utility role.

The big question if you move JP is who do you play at SS? Could you go with Rivas for a year or more until Emerson is ready? Maybe Rivas playing for a minimum salary at SS helps free up the money to sign Naylor.

But my guess is they won't move JP. I think he's the shortstop next year and then we'll see after that what happens.
You are probably right but they would be trading him at peak value.
Yeah, it's an interesting idea. It could happen. I think there are going to be some big trades this offseason and I would be surprised if this front office isn't part of one or two of them. And if that's kind of the way the offseason is going, you could see a scenario where JP just sort of gets caught up in that.
