Here's my article:

Basically, we got a mediocre reliever (Sir Anthony), a Kelenic type washout (Jones), a decent prospect (Smith), and an OF who puts up .700s OPSes while playing mostly in neutral and hitter-friendly ballparks (Ward).

Stanton et al. were the winners as they have $20 mil owed to Castillo off their books and can now invest that money into posher resorts for their corporate shindigs along with bigger private jets to get there.

Unfortunately, you can just as easily have hit the nail on the head, although Jones isn't like Kelenic. He actually had a huge 2023 with a 4.3 WAR in only 103 games. Doesn't look like he got injured so it's a head-scratcher what happened to him.

Super thorough, and sums up my thinking as well - they addressed the needs of paper, but they missed the blockbuster that would really have changed the momentum.

The only thing I would add is that a Kirby or Hancock deal that would have landed us a major offensive game changers of be for Zach Neto. He’s offers speed and athleticism, gold glove caliber defense, he hits clutch and for power, and he’s controllable. And the Angels were clearly sellers, so a deal could likely have been made.

Otherwise, great summary. Thanks.
He is a SS.

JP is a bench player who will only be a Mariner 2 more months. Colt has struggled a bit this season- if they got Neto, I can see sending Emerson down to figure shit out and then retooling the infield next season.
How many spanks to his bare bottom do you think Daddy Stanton would give to Jerry for signing a kid to $95M that has to be sent to AAA. You still don't know how Jerry rolls after all these years??? lol

Besides Colts walk off gets him to at least mid September....

His salary ensures he will be in the Bigs, regardless of how over matched he is. I can't wait for the next unproven minor leaguer they sign to a huge deal and pat their backs about being ahead of the curve. Fucking dumbasses. It reminds me of some of the shit Pete Carroll used to do, because that is the way we do it here. No, sometimes doing what no one else does is dumb because there is a real good reason no one else does it!
