100%

Why would you take players with freaky athleticism and attempt to turn them into plumbers?
while I fundamentally agree, for all the times it's failed, it's also WORKED a bunch of times. Richard Sherman and Tariq Woolen were WRs. Sweeney was a DT moved to G. Dissley was a DT moved to TE. Michael Robinson was a QB moved to FB. Terrelle Pryor was a QB moved to WR.

Elsewhere, Antwaan Randle El went QB to WR, Devin McCourty, Ronnie Lott, Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson were CBs that became all pro Safeties, Devin Hester was a CB, Todd Christensen was a FB and turned into a great TE, Dante Hall was a RB, Julian Edelman a QB, etc etc

It wasn't like they wanted to turn Graham and Parkinson into blocking TEs, just that they planned on asking them to do it more. I think it's logical to assume it's easier to teach a big guy that can catch to become a competent blocker than it is to turn a tackle into a receiver.

I'm not defending the Graham trade, just answering the question. The Graham trade was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole for a QB that wanted an extra peg.
One thing that is being missed here is Unger had been getting injured and a new contract was coming up - Seattle got cold feet committing to a getting-injured-more-frequently center and decided to make lemonade and get Graham - finally turning Cringeruss in the real Mr Unlimited. People talk about how seattle has no screen game, no tight end game - but for 10 years we supposedly had Mr. Unlimited - which could turn out to be the greatest irony in history if we didn't use those schemes because Wilson was weak at them - we know straight ahead vision can be tough for the vertically challenged. If he was able to perform them well, there would be no reason not to use them. It was the same through 3 OC's - wilson is the common denominator - and Carroll/Schneider. hard for me to believe seattle only hires OC's that don't have those playbooks. Just makes no sense. I feel like 80% of the Lambs offense is f*cking screens that we can't cover

It really was a square peg/round hole situation.

His comment on Parkinson was to change his body type, which would reduce his effectiveness at what he does well, all so he could be a below average blocking TE. Brilliant. As for Jimmy, sorry, it was NOT news that he couldn't block. It somehow surprised us though.

I think we all agree the Jimmy Graham experiment was dumb. I kinda get what they were going for, because he was a freaking awesome player, and adding a guy of that level SHOULD make you better. It just didn't make sense for all the reasons discussed.

The Parkinson experiment made more sense, though. He only cost a 4th round pick, and is skinny (6'7" 250lbs). It isn't crazy to think he could put on 20-25 lbs on that frame and learn to block without losing his ability to catch - I think of Michael Robinson who was a QB/WR that became a hell of a good blocking FB. As it turns out, Parkinson is actually 1 lb lighter (listed weight) than he was at the combine, so guess they gave up that dream.

whoa - Golden Tate answers QUESTIONS on this edition of KJ's podcast. Yup - it's long (that's what she said!) - so maybe watch incrementally. Good stuff.

I feel like the difference there, as well as in switching someone like Sherman to WR, is that you aren't talking about doing something to a guy at his current position that might take away his best attribute, at that position. Moving Mike Rob to FB didn't make him a bad QB or WR, it made him a Pro Bowl FB. Adding girth to Parkinson could very easily have made him less effective at what he did best, which was create mismatches as a pass catcher. If you draft a WR and convert him to DB, isn't that different than drafting or trading for a TE and then asking them to do the things that they don't do well? Or worse yet, change body types to fit the mold you want? Draft a blocking TE then.

Golden Tate's comments regarding the affair appear to support the idea that RW is a fraud.

Just a thought... perhaps his first marriage ended because she wasn't high profile enough for RW.

Did he talk about the time Percy Harvin threw him in a garbage can?

That moment when KJ goes "I don't want this to go viral, but three.... he's got some making up to do, some phone calls to make...' really shows what kind of narcissist Wilson really was. Players on ther record and off the record (we havenlt even heard the off the record comments. Everything about RW came home for me the season he pissed ways the lambs game - the entire season was abnout him - his podcast, his drinks, his celebrity, his legacy, me me me me me me me me me. I was one of the very few on here that really wanted RW gone - was praying for a QB in the draft. When that trade happened I was SO relieved.

Anyone not listening to KJ's podcast - you are legit missing out - it's an encyclopedia of the glory years. Can't recommend it enough.
