You just can't stand it when anyone disagrees with you. Even when someone is 90% in agreement with with whatever point you're making, that other 10% gets under your skin and you can't let it go.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 7:50 pmAh right, pedantic to just sit there while some moron claims that there's a snowball's chance in hell that a 34 year old pitcher who is physically declining, performing like shit, and on pace to throw 155 innings this year (not hurt)... is going to magically pull a horse shoe out of his ass next year and justify a $25M vesting option... and not say anything?GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 7:21 pmThis is such a stupid, pedantic argument. Both of you are morons that just like arguing.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 7:06 pm
If he is cooked, it's not "up to him" to pitch better. He may just not be very good anymore.
We aren't explaining him getting to 180 innings. We believe he is going to suck next year the White Sox wont let him near those 180 innings.
You're arguing very slim odds that he's worth that vesting option. We have had the stance that the odds of that option vesting because he's actually pitching well are insanely low.
You would have to be criminally stupid to think Castillo has a chance to make ANY team want to pay him $25M in 2028 given the trajectory of his performance.
Do you know how many pitchers toss 180 innings each year? About 20. Out of 200ish starting pitchers.
But sure, the stances are equal. Thanks GL_Storm... great input...
In this particular case, all Donn is pointing out is that there is at least a chance that Castillo turns it around next year and his option vests, and that he himself does in fact possess some agency in influencing that outcome. That's obviously a true statement. It's not really worth arguing about. Considering how unlikely that outcome is, you could point out reasonably that Donn is being pedantic in bringing it up, and you would be right about that as well. But that isn't good enough for you. You just have to win this stupid, meaningless argument. You have to make sure that Donn and the 5-10 other active members reading this (along with however many lurkers are out there) all understand that you are the winner of the argument and that your logic is unassailable in all respects.
