GT 7/31: One good Turner deserves another
Re: GT 7/31: One good Turner deserves another
Is Santos basically having his spring training right now? His rehab assignment was only 2 games and I know they've been using him more in the middle innings.
Re: GT 7/31: One good Turner deserves another
I guess which is dumb. Note the 6 ERA.
Look at Snell last 4 starts ERA 0.75 Batting average/OBP/Slugging/OPS .104 .179 .169 .347
1st 3 back 7.5 ERA

Why the hell is Diaz and his career 1.75 WHIP on this roster and being used in a late inning high leverage situation? Great find Jerry you goofball.

While I not sure why Diaz is pitching there , not sure why you are pitching to Devers with a base open either
Re: GT 7/31: One good Turner deserves another
They did it because of the L/L matchup. Devers is much better against righties, but he’s usually facing MLB lefties, not AAAA lefties

Guess we're not getting any offensive help from AAA any time soon..
I thought we had a good minor league system..
This lineup is ugly.

These new numbers don’t take a particularly kind view of Turner, but because the data is only available for 2024, it’s unclear if that’s a recent development based on his advancing age.
Whatever the cause of the veteran’s lack of bat speed (65.4 m.p.h. on average), he does seem to have a way to compensate for it. Turner’s swing length of 6.4 feet is the fifth-shortest in the major leagues.
Hitters in that area tend to be pure contact hitters like Luis Arraez, Steven Kwan, and Nick Madrigal. All of this is too new to know how it might affect player projections, but Turner’s low bat speed/short swing profile seems likely to result in strong strikeout avoidance numbers from here on out while his power could disappoint.

A Boston take, Refsnyder isn't exactly shit is he?Pharmabro wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 11:59 pmAnd the 2nd run does not matter and it sets-up the force plays and the players behind Devers were shit.Lamda wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 11:27 pmWhy do you even pitch to Devers? The only real knock I have on our manager is that he never walks the people who are killing us. They come up with the game on the line and 1B open and he pitches to them every time... and usually they beat us... just insane. Was there really nobody that could pinch hit for Garver???![]()

But the Mariners were running out of relievers, and Diaz was the guy that manager Scott Servais went to. With lefty destroyer Rob Refsnyder on deck, Devers got a chance to hit.

Garver is toast
.Mitch Garver: "I've already accepted the fact that I'm not going to hit above .200 this year. I don't know. It might not get any better. Who knows? Maybe it just gets worse. I don't know. But I show up to the field every day prepared to play and prepared to get better and work."
