What about this BS on Twitter about a potential trade with Miami for Devon Achane.

I don't think it was really even picking a route. They never made him a contract offer. For me that is telling. They never even explored the idea. They have always been intent on moving on and I'm gonna assume they have a plan for itMichael K. wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 8:20 pmI think he was hurt. Haven't paid much attention of late. He was never really a burner anyway, so a nagging injury could have greatly limited him. Hard to say. He might not be all that good. I trust the guys that have built this team to continue building it though. I guess that's my point. This organization decided this was the best route. I questioned what they did previously, for good reason. I think the last two years have proven they had a plan. I am trusting that plan. The running game might not be as effective....but I just have a hard time seeing us falling off a cliff because K 9 is gone. He's been banged up a lot, and rather ineffective at times as well. Incredibly talented, very explosive....but I have to believe they have an idea of how to replace him.

You don't know that. I would bet good money they would have been glad to resign K9 for @ 8 mill per year. I think the guys that signed elsewhere on the first day had tenative/slightly lowball offers from the Seahawks in their pocket when they tested FA. I think they had a chance to match and didn't. All except Woolen. He had no offer or promise from the Seahawks and it showed.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 9:00 pmI don't think it was really even picking a route. I guess if we can only come up with a dog shit RB that averages 2.7 yards a carry we can brag about him only being the 57th highest paid RB in the NFL.trharder wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:22 pmMaybe, but I will always remember humble, sober K9 standing behind drunk ass John Schneider at the SB partyMichael K. wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 6:01 pmI think they just weighed the options and realized making K-9 the fourth highest paid back would have been a mistake. And, as someone mentioned before? Maybe he told them he wasn't willing to share the load and the Hawks believed that he wasn't durable enough to be a Bell Cow?
and being a complete good sport and
find it hard to believe he was doing a lot of complaining during that SB season.
When you have a ghost town for an RB room I wouldn't think payroll rankings around the league should matter too much. Walker finally killed it when he was allowed to be the Bell cow. Maybe not a coincidence. Maybe guys need to get in a rhythm by playing every series.

I don't know they never made an offer? It's what Walker said, they never contacted his agent about one. I don't think it was him griping or them not liking him. But I think it was a given he wasn't going to re-sign. The seahawk system didn't suit him. It wasn't about going to find an offer to match, it was bidding him farewell. He had fired his agent just before the playoffs began. That's not a good sign of a player interested in remaining. The swiftness of that contract is a little suspicious of a deal hatched before the legal tampering period began. My point is the last thing in the world was JS getting caught flat-footed. I think it's been obvious to them they would be moving on from Walker for quite awhiletrharder wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 11:06 pmYou don't know that. Yeah, except they want a guy to match with Charb, the system doesn't suit him. You can complain about them not wanting to adjust but the fact is he wasn't a fit. The Chiefs are a team built around their passing game that was willing to spend on a single bell cow rb. The seahawks are a team built around a system that utilizing multiple backs.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2026 1:37 amI guess if we can only come up with a dog shit RB that averages 2.7 yards a carry we can brag about him only being the 57th highest paid RB in the NFL.trharder wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:22 pmMaybe, but I will always remember humble, sober K9 standing behind drunk ass John Schneider at the SB partyMichael K. wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 6:01 pmI think they just weighed the options and realized making K-9 the fourth highest paid back would have been a mistake. And theirs his injury history, it's like a catch 22. It would be better for Walker not to be used like that but he has to be used like that to get paid like that. And JS was never going to do that. If you listen to JS talk about the rb position that's what he talks about, injury risk.
Re: Free Agents - Cap Space - who stays, who's gone
Good thing all of our current RBs are Cal Ripken Jrs.
I thought when we trade Geno it was incredible that the had Darnold all lined up to replace him. It was like a pre ordained miracle and was awesome he pulled it off so easily and quickly. That is why I was so shocked that there are zero good options to replace Walker after just a couple days of FA especially since our only in house option that MIGHT be ready game one has 31 career carries.

Re: Free Agents - Cap Space - who stays, who's gone
That's been my point, the criticism of this off season is reminiscent of last season. Darnold wasn't viewed as an obvious replacement and there wasn't any sort of DK replacement. That there isn't an obvious walker replacement doesn't really mean anything. The issue might be it's not going to be a Walker replacement to begin with. They aren't trying to find another Walker, they are in the market for a rb that fits their offensive approach going forward. It's not so much talent as it be fit. They seem to have a Oline system now. What you want is a guy that suits that style. It could also be about a guy that is a better receiver. We really don't have a clue who they might be considering.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2026 2:13 amGood thing all of our current RBs are Cal Ripken Jrs.

they are retooling the roster. It's not static and it's not just money, it's continuing to develop an offense and defense.
Seaside Joe, he also points out they had already extended Lucas and Cross who would have been FAs this off season

I can’t stand the narrative that a team “couldn’t keep the band together” when the reality is that the Seahawks actually kicked people out of the band; not because they can’t play the instruments but just due to the fact that they’re headed in different artistic directions

Not many thought JS had made the necessary moves last season to win a SB but he managed it. Terms of Darnold being an obvious Geno replacement, that's from after week one.
