Nimmo being CF is a good opportunity to realize it doesn't matter what position the player we get plays.

It doesn't matter if they play CF, RF, 2B or SS, as long as they do it with average defense, we only need them for their bat.

Which is, of course, the best reason not to pay the asking price on the shortstops. Because we don't need a shortstop. We need a bat.

Interesting... I posted this trade on MLBTV and I was very surprised to see so many White Sox fans giving thumbs up and so many Mariner fans giving thumbs down... (actually I shouldn't be surprised... the obsession with our weak-hitting SS is a weird one).

I didn't realize this, but Anderson not only has a club option for this coming year, but the next year as well.

Go get him.

According to a contributor to a White Sox chat Thursday at MLB Trade Rumors: " Tim Anderson is a horrible defender and a terrible baserunner."

According to MLBTR founder Tim Dierkes in the same chat: "Tim Anderson can be controlled through 2024, though I see from some of the chat comments that some White Sox fans want him traded."

I'd love to trade JP.

Unfortunately Dipoto handed him a contract that basically turned him into Chone Figgins.

Like it's not really a problem, but it's kiiiind of a problem.

I don't think Dipoto is ready or willing to give up on JP, but would love to be wrong.

According to Fangraphs, Tim Anderson was a slightly better defender than JP Crawford in 2022. They were =/= in 2021.

Anderson had 13 stolen bases in 2022 and was caught stealing 0 times. He had 18 stolen bases in 2021 and was caught 7 times. JP has 6 total stolen bases the last 2 years and has been caught 8 times.

JP was in the bottom 62% percentile for sprint speed. Anderson was in the top 24% for sprint speed.

I'm curious why you all of a sudden you went from referring to stats to some moron who is emotional when it comes to Tim Anderson? This is unbecoming of you.

I don't think Moncada is as focused on baseball as he should be.
