There's some intriguing aspects to this deal. Yeah, for as entrenched as i believe dipoto is he can't just roll out more disappointing seasons. I view him more as like another howard Lincoln than as a typical GM. But he's up against it, and first on the list is a manager. That's something he needs to get right this time. He's already committed to a change of direction by claiming they will go outside the organizationSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2026 3:00 pmFairly confident that he feels less secure in his role than ever.
They have another year like '26 and he's surely out.
When you start saying things like fans wouldn't be in the wrong to say I shouldn't have a job... that's pretty telling.
Hopefully that means a change to the strategy.
I wonder if there's a thread back to his dealing with Mike scioscia? Has that impacted his thought process. I heard a guy, a baseball guy commenting, and this wasn't about dipoto in particular, that if players sense a manager isn't really in charge he will lose the clubhouse. For that reason I didn't believe dipoto would really be that controlling, that he wouldn't do that to Wilson but maybe he was? That could be a hard pill for dipoto to swallow
