Seems like a lot but I guess it be a function of what is available in the draft

Adam Schefter a few days ago
“Do I think teams will explore that option that you just raised here already? Of course. Absolutely, 100 percent, because JJ McCarthy would have been a top — if not the top — quarterback prospect in this draft,” Schefter said. “And yes he’s coming off the ACL, so what, it doesn’t really matter. If the Vikings decided that they wanted to trade him, which I don’t know that they will, I believe they would get back everything that they put into him and then some. It would be a (first-round pick) and then some.”
i like Shefty, but dont thinks he's right on that one. Not only the ACL but also one less year on the rookie deal than anyone you would draft this year. A decent second rounder should do it imho. Yes, drafted high, but he's no finished product, has never proven he's elite, especially the way he was protected at Michigan. That said I'd like the Hawks to take a run at him as he has a solid floor and upside to develop into a more polished passer, as well as great intangibles, or so it's said.

I would be very skeptical of trading for JJ. I thought the Vikings screwed up taking him, have never really liked him, and they are probably sitting at much closer to .500 if he had been the starter this year.

Yeah, that's how Darnold got the gig, that's whats crazy about their season, they used their backup qb
Darnold must have been born on Easter.

Yeah, as good as last year's Husky O Line was, I am curious how much of that was Penix? Seemed we didn't run the ball with as much ease as I would expect from the team with "the best O Line in College Football".

How do you "throw a receiver open"? Doesn't that just mean throw the ball where only the receiver can get to it, but before they have gained much separation?

What are we talking sandlot? A NFL QB that has to wait for a receiver to get open before he throws him the ball?

No, Darnold was signed so that JJ could sit, be the back up to learn for a year, and then take over....hence the reason Darnold is on a 1yr deal. Minnesota didn't think their D or the OL was ready to truly compete this year.

That's an AI response but it's how I understood it
Sam Darnold is the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, and J.J. McCarthy is the backup. Darnold was originally expected to be a backup for the Vikings in 2024, but became the starter after McCarthy's preseason debut was ended by a torn meniscus. Darnold's strong performance led the Vikings to a playoff appearance and earned him Pro Bowl honors

Dillon Johnson had 1195yds on 233 carries. That was in 14 games but he missed about 2 full games and was playing hurt most of the season. The Huskies rushed for 1778 yds and that was with Pennix rushing 35 times for +8 yds
