Even his other year was better than Wong.

If his bat plays in LF, then he makes a huge asset to have at 2B, a typically weak position, whereas Moore would still get left behind in LF among contending teams LF's in my opinion.

No reason to add at the weak position when you have good hitters sitting there for the taking in LF and can have two plus hitters in the lineup at 2B and LF instead of two average or below hitters.

Moving a guy who can play solid 2N to LF makes no sense imo.

You're negating every benefit that player brings you.

If he doesn't pan out by mid-season, sure, replace him by all means.

Sum Ting Wong with JD if he thinks 2B is the position to focus on.

Moore's bat is nothing special as a LF. Why settle when easy upgrades are there for the taking...

Not my kind of player, but looks like the Mariners aren't married to Dylan Moore, 2B.

Doesn't seem like a great plan to move Moore's .750 career OPS in his first two seasons off of 2B in favor of the guy with a .711 career OPS, including a .675 OPS last season (compared to Moores .855).

Trending opposite ways imo. Would be a "Lets add Dee Gordon when we already have Cano" move imo.

Obviously Moore is no Cano, but he doesn't have a problem outhitting Wong, that much is clear enough. Even his OBP is better than Wong for the "table setter!" crowd.

Steamer and ZiPS project Dylan Moore with 2021 WAR of 0.7 in 130 games and 0.9 in 124 games while projecting Kolten Wong with 2021 WAR of 1.9 in 126 games and 2.2 in 143 games.

Marcel projects these 2021 lines for Moore and Wong:

DM 443 PA, .230/.325/.426/.751
KW 536 PA, .260/.343/.386/.729

It's not necessarily an either/or proposition. Moore's power might play in left field where a small sample of defensive metrics suggest that Moore could be an elite defender.

Or not.

We'll all be pulling for Dylan Moore but some fans are too easily seduced by Moore's breakout season of 38 games.

Actually that is the exact reason that I would rather have Moore at 2B than LF. I am not convinced he has the bat for LF based on the 38 games. But if you read the LL article, I am quite confident that changes he has made will allow him to be a starting 2B long term.

Agreed. In 2019 a .751 OPS would rank as the 16th of 17th qualifying left fielders (20 points behind Carlos Peguero ) and the 13th of 19 second basemen.

An interesting observation regarding the A’s and Marcus Semien. If this is gospel, I have to wonder WTF they’re thinking. It’s one of the more interesting turns in the FA market this winter, and an inkling perhaps that Oakland will be filling holes with talent graded on cost, rather than proven ability and projected performance.

Kinda like another team I know.
