He's an absolute steal at 2B.

They absolutely should keep him ahead of Dylan Moore or Shed Longs useless asses.

Shed Long is a perfect UTIL. Speed and versatile defense. Perfect type of guy to replace a Santana or Beckham in the late innings with a lead or as a pinch runner when down by a run.

But guys like Shed Long, Mallex Smith, bad Dee Gordon, they're not starting players but make good long term players. Dee Gordon is in his final year or two of being useful even a little bit.

Guys like Beckham are either starters, or they're out of the league. Right now he's a starter.

Im not sure if we know what Long will be yet as he's only 23, but the rest I agree with.

You know if they keep Beckham that means Seager will be stuck at 3B though and wouldn't move to second

I know we are going to disagree on a lot of things, and that's fine. I want discussions. I hope you'll at least attempt to understand where Im coming from. Most of my preferences for next year are based on the following:

Mariners won't compete in 2020, so I don't care as much about wins losses. I want to see the players who could be with the Mariners 2021 and beyond get playing time and succeed. And if they don't succeed, Mariners can move on from them.

If they put a defensive 2B in there, it doesnt make up for Seagers lack of offense so the lineup just takes a double whammy.

I'd be happier with Seager at 3B if we had a good bat to make up for it at the position Seager should be playing (2B).

And i wasn't the one that said Beckham got cold due to irregular play.

In the end irregular play prevented him from getting out of it and becoming the hitter he was on the hot streak again, because.. he wasnt in the lineup anymore.

Hot, Cold, Hot, Cold. Unless you get pulled at Cold and turned into a spot player. Then Hot doesn't come again. Obviously. Like what happened to Beckham.

You have classified since which is fine. I understand what you are saying. I agree to an extent. I don't think you can leave him out there playing as bad ad he was at SS and not hitting. I think I advocated moving him to 2B as well early in the season.

And Im fine with that. If Mariners think Beckham can be 2B for 2021 and beyond, then keep him. He will be 31 by that point, so I have my doubts. Id rather see what Long has, and if he can be the everyday 2B. Seager at 3B doesn't bother me, because he's not blocking anyone at this point and I don't expect the Mariners to compete in 2020. Long won't be the every day 3B, so no need to pt him the and move Seager to 2B. Moore, Lopes and Negron won't either.

I can agree with that. I do think they value defense and what it does to the pitchers psyche though too, especially the soft tossing pitchers the Mariners have now. I know you don't agree with that, but I think that is also a motivation behind playing Gordon at 2B, who I think is clearly better than Beckham, and Im sure the Mariners do too.
