Yep, I guess they were going to go with Moore in LF until JK comes up and then back to UT despite the fact he has one, if not the best bats on the team.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 3:48 amDipoto hates Dylan Moore. That would've awesome had we scored either player. Dipoto says now we're just gonna go with what we have in house. Marmolejos/Haggerty/Fraley it is.

I would say that. He's been jerked around by Dipoto because he doesn't believe in him, meanwhile he forced Mallex Smiths incompetent ass down our throats daily when it was obvious the kid had no future.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:00 pmI wouldn't say that. Kyle Seager is most likely gone after this year and somebody is gonna have to play the hot corner, cause France isn't the best fielder over there.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 3:48 amDipoto hates Dylan Moore. Small sample but France had the second best UZR 150 of any 3B last season. Not saying this makes him great but hard to believe he could be second if he was bad. With a full season of Perry Hill's tutelage I think he will be at least average.

I would've preferred LaStella, Wong, or Moore manning third base than Ty France if I were gonna play my best defender over there. Ultimately it didn't work. I wouldn't be surprised to see if Dipoto goes back and gets his guy when the playoff push time really comes. I'm looking forward to seeing Marte's first season stateside as well.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 6:01 pmSmall sample but France had the second best UZR 150 of any 3B last season. Wong had a .675 OPS. I would rather eat a crap sandwich every day than have him at 3B. 3B is a position that you have to put up at least a .800 OPS.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 6:07 pmI would've preferred LaStella, Wong, or Moore manning third base than Ty France if I were gonna play my best defender over there. Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
Shed Long Jr. may get a second chance as the lefthanded bat at second base.
Steamer and ZiPS project Long with 2021 wRC+ of 86 and 75 while projecting Dylan Moore with 2021 wRC+ of 84 and 86.
In 2019 Long posted a wRC+ of 111 in 42 games but poor defensive metrics at second base. In his injury-plagued 2020 season Long posted a wRC+ of 49 (with a BABIP of .221) in 34 games but improved defensive metrics at second base.
In 2019 Moore posted a wRC+ of 88 in 113 games. In 2020 Moore posted a wRC+ of 138 in 38 games with poor defensive metrics in the infield but promising defensive metrics in his small sample in left field.
The 28-year-old Moore can handle left field until Jarred Kelenic is ready and provide insurance at second base if the 25-year-old Long stumbles again.
Or not.

I would've preferred not to put Wong there either. But Moore would be just fine with me. Who eats crap sandwiches nowadays anyways?D-train wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 6:26 pmWong had a .675 OPS. Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
I think I finally get it now.
Dipoto blames his career of having line drives constantly going over the outfielders heads on the fielders.
His defense first approach in the corners is to benefit the fringey reliever like he was.
