9.2.2026 GT: I Have 2 Feet, I Need 2 Socks
Re: 9.2.2026 GT: I Have 2 Feet, I Need 2 Socks
Depends what kind of prospect he is I guess. He didn't seem to need a soft landing as he was dropping a bomb over the center field wall at Fenway.
You're right that they're not treating Montes like he could save their season. But that's pretty much what they need. Taylor Ward's not gonna do it (that's where the Dipoto hate comes from- he can't pick an MLB bat to save his life).
So, instead, they'll platoon, as usual. And Montes will tail off like everyone else does.

Spot on mate.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 7:32 amThe next 10 games will dictate who wins the division & who doesn't.
Astros next 10
1 vs. White Sox
3 vs. DBacks
3 @ Phillies
3 @ Rays
Rangers next 10
4 vs. Rays
3 @ DBacks
3 vs. Red Sox
Not saying 0-10 is a distinct possibility but it is possible they both go winless & if thats the case Seattle just has to make up enough ground to catch Houston which at this rate is 5 games. The next 4 vs the worst team in the AL outside of Angels. Again I say. 1 game at a time.
Repeat with me
1.....GAME.....AT.....A.....TIME
In another piece of strange math - the Wildcard looks out-of-reach. The AL East has at least 2 of them virtually nailed down and one of CLE, BAL, TOR or MIN will take the third as they can't all capitulate.
So the only chance of making the play-offs is to take the division.
But I think its sweep vs A's or forget about it....

I think thats it. Montez is a september callup. Thats generally considered to be about giving a prospect a taste of the big leagues as them being ready to save a season. They brought up Ford last season, did he ever actually play? Montez has struggled against left handed pitching so far in the minors. So dipoto promotes him and then runs him out there daily against ML lefties in an attempt to save the season? That to me would smell like negligence. Sacrificing his prospect to try and deflect from the lousy season. Dipotos approach might seem conservative but isnt that preferred to desperate attempts to save his job? I really don't want dipoto trying to save the season, that worries mebpj wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 7:49 amDepends what kind of prospect he is I guess. It doesn't have to do with options. The rule is that if you were on the big league roster you can't return to the minors during a lockout the next season.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 7:27 amHes going to be able to be be returned to the minors next season. His options are still intact. The kid glove treatment is because thats the generally accepted method for developing a player

see
He was going to need to be put on the 40 man roster which is what you are talking about. Players on the 40 are subject to the labor agreement. Leaving him in the minors wouldnt have made a differenceSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 12:06 pmIt doesn't have to do with options. That would have applied more to emerson, his rule 5 wasnt coming up was it? They could have kept him in the minors if they hadnt added him to the 40 man roster

My point is that in the likely event of a lockout Montes won't be able to play minor league ball next season so i wouldn't be restricting his plate appearances now. But i guess they're screwed either way since apparently it's a given that he can't hit off left-handers and would be traumatized by the experience. Perhaps they could send him to Venezuela or Korea to skirt the lock-out rules.

It would make some sense of the the alternative wasn't a complete fucking trash can named "WARDO" that Shocker! went 0-5....Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 4:42 amI doubt any manager in baseball is running Laz out there in his second career game against a leftie. Complain about management but come on. Thats a pretty boiler plate decision. Terms of ramps, i think you want to make his promotion a little easier than that. theres a strategy of building on success, putting players in position to succeedSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 12:08 amI would've liked to have seen what Laz could've done against the crap pitching the Sox put out there today.

Re: 9.2.2026 GT: I Have 2 Feet, I Need 2 Socks
They would have had to put him on the 40 in a couple months to protect him from the Rule V draft but still I agree with you obviously....Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 5:41 amDid you realize that if there is a lock-out next year Laz won't be eligible to play in the minors cuz he was put on the 40-man. Seems to me they were willing to risk a year of his development in order to capitalize on what he has to offer now. So why the kid glove treatment?

Re: 9.2.2026 GT: I Have 2 Feet, I Need 2 Socks
Such an inane loser mentality. Is Laz going to cry and be mentally ruined if he Ks vs. a LH MLB starter in his 2nd MLB game EVER??? Who the FUCK comes up with this limp dicked bitch pussy ideas???? Let me guess. Liberals???Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 7:41 amIt has nothing to do with defending dipoto. I dont believe theres a team in baseball thats making making a september prospect callup just to run him out there against whoever is pitching. You guys need to differenciate between your dipoto hate and generally accepted method. You can bitch about it all you want, but you are never going to get it. All it really does is weaken your actual case against dipoto
