Kind of feels like it had to be now or never for him if he was going to make a move. He is about to turn 59. Not many teams are looking for head coaches in their mid 60's so this will likely be his last job.

I guess he really was tired of facing Lake!
Seems to me unless they can get a hotshot OC that runs the Air Raid and is interested in taking the next step that this could be a big problem for WSU.

It is without a doubt one of the most difficult places to recruit to in the Power 5. The Cougs played in a total of 8 bowl games from 1916-2012. Leach has taken them to 6 bowls in the last 7 years.

Yeah, it is going to be extremely difficult for them to replicate the success they had with Leach. Comparing Bowl games is one thing, but even winning records. Back in the day of Don James, 7 wins probably didn't get you in a Bowl...now a days you damn near play on New Year's day! That being said, Cougar fans are disappointed these days with .500. It wasn't that long ago that 4 wins was common. This could get interesting.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 7:29 pmIt is without a doubt one of the most difficult places to recruit to in the Power 5. Just saw your post. I just put one over on the "Couged It" forum, too.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 6:47 pmJust got an alert on my phone. Interesting move for him.
Wonder what WSU will do for a coach now.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!
Re: Leach to Mississippi State

looks like Both teams have September 17 open in 2022 and both teams need at least one more game on the schedule.

Mississippi State is already playing Arizona though so they are probably not going to play 2 Pac 12 teams.

Pretty amazing how so many Coug fans are happy to see him go. He was and odd duck but they will be beyond lucky to find a coach to replicate his success. I think Graham Harrell would be a great choice.
