Yankees turn all their top pitching prospects into relievers...
The Yankees top prospect, RHP Deivi Garcia will move to the bullpen for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the rest of the season according to Conor Foley of The Times-Tribune in Scranton.

Foley noted that the Yankees have made similar moves like this last season with RHP Chance Adams and LHP Justus Sheffield. This was in preparation for the end of season roles that each player was going to have with the team. Adams pitched in three games last season, going 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA. While Sheffield also pitched in three games, throwing just 2.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits.

Garcia, the No. 64 prospect in the MLB, has struggled in his two most recent starts. He failed to make it through the fifth inning in either game, and allowed two runs in both match-ups. He struck out a total of nine batters and walked four over 8.1 combined innings of work.
They keep trying to find the next Mariano Rivera

They should try that with Paxton maybe it will get his era under four and a half.

I don't understand how the Yanks hang in there like that, haven't looked closely, it must be the bpj model in action. I do find it interesting how Cashman stood pat at the deadline. If that had been the Mariners, we would have been going nuts

I'm sure a few of the 10 million Yankees fans were going nuts as well.

Yeah, it's weird how the top 5 OPS teams are also the top 5 in runs scored which leads to, you know, winning ballgames.

3 negative defensive teams, 1 average defense, 1 good defense among the bunch.

Sounds like most of the good teams are my kind of teams really.

I was speaking to a lack of pitching, a cursory look has, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and Houston at the top, though the Yanks are sixth. I thought they were more like 15th the last time I looked.

from Schoenfield a couple weeks ago, seems the Yanks do have some pitching issues...
It's not just concern about Tanaka. Going back to the beginning of July (through the first game on Monday), the Yankees' rotation has a 5.56 ERA, 23rd in the majors. Since July 1, Yankees starters have allowed the most home runs in the majors -- yes, even more than the Baltimore Orioles.

OK, maybe it has just been a bad month and 12 days? Well, since June 1, the rotation has a 5.63 ERA, 25th in the majors. For the season, the Yankees have the worst road rotation ERA in the majors.
