I would be shocked if they sign significant FAs this off season but they signed KK last off season so who knows.bpj wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 10:42 amJustin Dunn not looking bad at all either. Logan Gilbert.
A rotation full of 3+'s in 2020 could put up a surprising amount of wins. I don't think they'll fool around with the bullpen next season.
We'll see all the bullpen guys next season that we've been wondering about this season.
Add 2 key offensive pieces in trade or FA and throw a Gerritt Cole shaped cherry on top, bada bing, bada boom, winners.
Justus Sheffield gets the start Friday!

KK they had to guarantee 56 million + 10 million posting fee. I could see then spending something similar to that. I don't think they'll do a 200+ million dollar contract like Cole will end up getting. They would probably have to pay even more to get him to come to Seattle.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 1:35 pmI would be shocked if they sign significant FAs this off season but they signed KK last off season so who knows.bpj wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 10:42 amJustin Dunn not looking bad at all either. what Dipoto had to say about Mariner off season plans
Asked during a conference call about the Mariners’ plans in free agency this winter, general manager Jerry Dipoto replied: “We don’t expect to go into the offseason scouring the free-agent market at the top of the food chain.”

You could probably cut and post that for every off season since he's been here. I don't even see us getting a $200+MM FA after 2020, 2021 or 2022.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 2:32 pmwhat Dipoto had to say about Mariner off season plans

The Phillies and Padres are under .500 combined after signing Harper and Machado.

Regarding Sheffield, b/4 the trade the Yankee's came to the conclusion that he would be a relief pitcher.

Hey... the Seattle Mariners are the next big thing. He'll take a pay cut and come here. Astros are toast.

I don't think they'll actually go after big free agents, but I dont think they would need more than 2 with the upgrades already on-hand.

Yankees turn all their top pitching prospects into relievers...
The Yankees top prospect, RHP Deivi Garcia will move to the bullpen for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the rest of the season according to Conor Foley of The Times-Tribune in Scranton.
Foley noted that the Yankees have made similar moves like this last season with RHP Chance Adams and LHP Justus Sheffield. This was in preparation for the end of season roles that each player was going to have with the team. Adams pitched in three games last season, going 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA. While Sheffield also pitched in three games, throwing just 2.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits.
Garcia, the No. 64 prospect in the MLB, has struggled in his two most recent starts. He failed to make it through the fifth inning in either game, and allowed two runs in both match-ups. He struck out a total of nine batters and walked four over 8.1 combined innings of work.
