I like Anderson and Reynolds but no way I would do Senga and Conforto over Nimmo. Our rotation is good to go and I don't want a guy that hasn't played in a year and a half to be a key piece. Also that DH combo put up an average OPS of .609. Projectile vomit emoji. Also, can't roster a bad half of a DH platoon that can't run. Lewis is toast.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 5:24 pmIf the M's can trade for a Bryan Reynolds and Tim Anderson + sign say, Conforto and Senga?... I'd have no problem at all with that being the off season. You offer an extension to Reynolds on arrival, raises your payroll, but also gives you the flexibility to add more in years to come.
1. Anderson 2B
2. France 1B
3. Reynolds LF
4. Julio CF
5. Conforto RF
6. Geno 3B
7. Raleigh/Murphy
8. Winker/Lewis? DH
9. JP SS
Trade for Anderson: Harry Ford + Bryce Miller + Dylan Moore + Diego Castillo + Chris Flexen
Trade for Reynolds: Emerson Hancock + Gabriel Gonzales + Jarred Kelenic + Adam Macko
Deal for Reynolds: 5 year extension starting post his arb years, $115 million.
Deal for Conforto: 2 years, $34 million.
Deal for Senga: 5 years, $75 million
You've added $55ish million in payroll for the next 2 seasons. $31 million comes off the books by letting Conforto and Anderson walk in '25. $16 million is added per year when Reynolds contract kicks in. By 2025... the M's should have a clearer picture our the middle infield with Felnin Celesten, Michael Arroyo, and Cole Young likely approaching AA ball. You'll also be more prepared to manage the rising arb numbers of Kirby, Gilbert, Raleigh and France.

Winker at DH and hope for a rebound would be reasonable IF the get 3 above average Bats for 2B and the corners. Reynolds and Tim are that but can't rely on Conforto. If you recall he had a down year in 2021. Combine that with the massive layoff. Hard pass.

You'd get sort of a 2 for 1 in signing Conforto + Senga vs Nimmo which would cover more positional depth, leaving less holes overall. I'd hate for the M's to sign Nimmo and then you're stuck with Marco as a 5th starter because the team was afraid to spend after that... what would be better? Nimmo + Marco OR Conforto + Senga? I'd go w. the second option.
Jerry is also making it clearer and clearer by the day that he expects the DH spot to be a rotational spot for the corner OF's and in his interview he said he expects Winker to be a contributor when healthy. I don't agree with it... but it's a hill our moronic GM chooses to die on. If Winker and Lewis can find some footing in '23, you could do worse.

Yeah agree on that but I can't believe they are going to keep Marco so it would be Brash or Hancock or Dollard, maybe even Flexen + Nimmo and his 130 wRC+ vs. Senga and Conforto with his 100 wRC+.

What does "expressed formal interest" mean. Did they ask him if anyone was taking him to prom? Tell them they like the cut of his jib? Swipe right on his Tinder profile?
Either way, I suppose this is encouraging news.
