Morosi actually makes a good point that we are probably going to have to wait until Yamamoto signs and the teams that miss out on him will then be looking elsewhere for a SP. Then we could trade Miller or Woo for Casas.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... tr01.shtml
That looks like another recipe for last years BS where they kept waiting for the FAs to come "with hat-in-hand" and then Belt decided to not take the same offer the M's had to go to the Jays. I doubt it ends up any better this year after the M's went on a fire sale. Now everybody in baseball including the 710 ESPN guys and national pundits are like "these guys are a clown-car organization." and "I feel so sorry for the fans~ this organization has the core of a contender and for years they just needed to add just a bit of hitting."

Hoskins is a younger better option that Soler imo.

Prior three season OPS: .831

Soler .779

Hoskins .900 OPS in Phili in '22... .700 on the road.

About 100 point difference in home/road splits for his career.

Soler .900 OPS on the road, .800 at home in '23. Bout even splits home/road for his career.

I feel like Soler has more natural power that can play here... he also plays OF in a pinch which is a need rn.

I wonder why. Phillies ballpark is just an average hitting park.

Soler is just so inconsistent. I could see him being Teo with worse DH. Hoskins can DH/1B and then we trade for a COFer or two.

Nolan Jones played LF RF 1B and even a few games in CF. He is basically a Bellinger making minimum wages. The Rockies has zero starters with ERAs under 5 so might take like a Miller or Woo + Clase.

He had 4.3 WAR in only 106 games. I feel like I have discovered plutonium. lol
Wow. His trade calc. is at 33M. And the Rockies have nothing. German Marquez had 4 starts last year. They need to sell whatever they can for prospects. I would propose something like:

And if I needed to take out Peete, or whoever and add in Woo I would. BUt Ideally you would do this package as proposed (Prospect for MLB bat), and then do a Miller/Woo package for Paredes/Naylor/etc, and then go sign Belt.

Why would the Rockies do it? It is simple they have nobody good. The only (slightly above average bat in the 1-9 was 36 year-old DH Charlie Blackmon, Their best pitcher was a 100 ERA+ and they need to try to trade him and he is owed 60+ million for 4 years. And trade German at the deadline if he can come back effectively. They need a reset. My package proposal allows the Rockies to get a handful of top prospect 4 of the top 11. And it is already a moderate overpay nut even more-so because they are recent picks and young they have growth potential as they get closer to MLB and they allow the Rockies to tank and increase their odds of picking up 1-2-3 top of the draft selections. Take the O's approach.

So something like
*JP SS
Julio CF
*Jones OF
Paredes 3B
*Belt DH
France 1B
** Cal C
OF (Best of Canzone, Marlow, Haggerty, Moore, TT, etc)
2B (Rojas/Urias) L/R

Bench C, Moore, Haggerty, Urias

Looks like a winner to me
