Yup! I liked Witherspoon a lot, IF we didn't go QB. I'm still shocked that Levis is on the board. But I love having Witherspoon on the team.

The Snowball has Survived HELL!! Its a MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!57reasons wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:13 pmnot a snowball's chance. maybe Brents at 52, but not any sooner. have we forgotten everything about JS/PC? if there's one pattern (besides getting cute before last year), it's cornerbacks late, not early.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 6:08 pmYeah I think they might do it as well if Anderson is gone which I am almost positive that he will be....SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 5:47 pmIt's the Seahawks. Pete and John. Literally ANYTHING is possible - they're always about competing, so if they can throw an extra talented player into the mix, they will, and let them battle it out.
IMO, CB is not their first choice, but if it falls that way and the best player out there is Witherspoon or Gonzalez, they will for sure pick them. And it is entirely possible that it breaks that way. I don't think they have any real interest in the QBs, so their two targets are Anderson and Carter, and if Carter isn't really on the list, then CB could well be the move if Anderson goes.
I'd love Anderson, any of the top 4 QBs (and by that i dont mean Hooker), or a trade back ONLY if it brings enough tickets for next year's QB lottery, or some crazy haul like the PFN sometimes offers such as BOTH Derrick Brown and Brian Burns for that pick (if only it were that easy).

Interesting Pete's explanation. You can look at it as if there is anybody that should know corners it's Pete. He has been known for mining the lower rounds for them, but on the other hand, if there is one that deserves to go five he probably has a handle on that as well.
Re: This piece on CBs has shattered my confidence on my first pick
Exactly. The reason that they have taken one in the first round isn't because they don't think they are a priority it is because there was never one good enough to take when they picked there.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 12:25 pmInteresting Pete's explanation. Seattle also bucked its recent draft history in taking Witherspoon. He is the first cornerback Seattle has drafted in the first two rounds since Carroll and Schneider took over in 2010 — Shaquill Griffin had been the highest at 90th overall in the third round in 2017.
“We have not drafted corners high just because we haven’t come across a guy with this makeup,” Carroll said. “It’s his athletic ability. It’s his speed. It’s his playmaking. It’s his mentality.”

I wouldn't say they aren't a priority, its Petes thing, he's the dback guru. I would have said he was more interested in building them than drafting them. I think it speaks to a lack of ego on Pete's part. He wasn't married to the idea he could drill lower rounds for this kind of talent.
It's also kind of interesting that both picks are pass oriented.

Not sure what you mean but believe that's my point. I would have guessed Pete would be happy to just look for a player with the physical characteristics he likes, tall, long arms, and coach him up to be a great CB, rely on his coaching skills rather than needing to draft for it
Re: This piece on CBs has shattered my confidence on my first pick
He literally denies that right here.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 8:29 pmNot sure what you mean but believe that's my point. great job by those guys hiding their interest - sending Detroit into a complete tailspin not being able to grab their guy at 6, and reportedly angering a lot of other teams that maybe would have traded up there for him. Not conventional wisdom to build a D from the outside in, or to upgrade nominal weaknesses (Left Corner) ahead of the glaring ones (interior line, both sides).
