Anthony Richardson had 'instant rapport' with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll
It’s a worthy investment. While landing a blue-chip defensive piece like Will Anderson Jr. or Jalen Carter isn’t bad, quarterbacks are far more likely to deliver more value in the long run – no matter how great a defensive line prospect may turn out to be.

Signing Geno makes sense if the QB you may draft still needs a little development. I still have the Hawks taking QB at #5

Going to the hawks would seem a sweet deal for a QB chosen at the top of a draft, a winning organisation, an organisation that's created a reputation for developing qbs, no pressure to produce immediately

Starting today draft eligible players can visit NFL team facilities. Also, video conference and telephone interviews begin (up to three interviews per player, no more than one hour long).

As do I. It makes so much sense.

I think you're both nuts. The only way the Seahawks take a QB at 5 is if Stroud drops for some reason AND nobody offers a sweet deal to move up.

I'll admit there is no predicting the Seahawks' draft strategy, but I'm confident in this. I'd be less surprised if they take a WR or OT at 5.

I'm 100% sure they will draft a QB, and probably fairly high up, just not at 5, and I don't think it's one of the big 4.

I felt the same way too, Stroud or Hooker. But there are a few things to consider.

1. It is Pete and John drafting, and historically they don't seek pocket passers like CJ Stroud when evaluating college prospects

2. Hendon Hooker would be 27 or 28 years old by the time he'd start and likely won't be a dual-threat in 2025.

3. JS comes from the Green Bay philosophy of drafting QB early and often (though he'll admit the opportunities have not fallen to him this way). And he has said that the draft opportunity they have does not come around very often, and QBs don't grow on trees

4. They have traded away their franchise QB and do need to fill this position via draft with a high talent player, either this year or via a trade down that includes a 2024 1st (but this may not result in a favorable draft pick either)

5. And a little more research on Anthony Richardson and understand the team he's playing on, his experience, watching his interviews, and his highlights I would say PC/JS would draft AR15 even is Stroud was available. This guy pops more on his highlight reel far more than any QB prospect in this draft class. And his interviews suggest that he's attentive, interested in learning, respectful, understands where he's at in his development and will buy-in.

Now, you and me?... Yes, we would take the safe bet in Stroud, but it might not be the correct one either. A writer said some interesting things about Richardson as possibly being a QB that would be unlike any we've ever seen, followed by, "his ceiling is the moon, but his floor is the Earth's core".

Lastly, I like Hendon Hooker, but I'm 100% off of him after Geno's signing. Things are just making too much sense to draft AR15 and have Geno be his teacher and mentor from a player perspective.

CJ Stroud didn't run much in college, but he showed he CAN, and has said he probably should have. I wouldn't say he's a pocket passer, and he is easily the most accurate of the bunch, which is what PC/JS like. Also, I'm not sure how you can say what they look for, since the only QBs they've drafted have been Russ and Alex McGough.

interesting point. Not sure if they'd care much, but could be true.

agree - that's why I said they'll draft a QB, just don't think it'll be at #5. Naturally, we don't know how #1-4 will break, which will make a ton of difference, but a top 5 QB pick is generally made by a team that is desperate for a year 1 starter.

His highlight reel is impressive, but his film is NOT. For every highlight, there are 5 lowlights. PC/JS value ball security and keeping drives alive. Richardson is so inaccurate he just doesn't seem to be a fit. Plus, I can't get over watching him say he doesn't know anything about the west coast offense. For somebody that's "interested in learning" you'd think he would've looked into it, considering 1/4 of the NFL uses it, and all 32 teams use various WCO concepts.

There is lots of running and ultra mobile QBs that are currently successful.

Jones
Hurts
Allen
Fields will be.
Murray-I don’t like him. But, has had success.
Jackson

Herbert and Burrow are super mobile. Can be runners but choose to throw
Russ :)

NFL is different now. Look at the pocket less mobile guys, is this the way?? Mac
That's what I was saying....but, if it means we have to look as far back as Mirer to find a flop? And Sorry, Kaep played in back to back NFCCGs and made a Super Bowl. Not a flop, and he, IMO, would have been fine without the Vegan diet. He looked a lot like an even skinnier RG III after a month or two of not eating. Same for Vince Young. This cat from Florida? Again, BIGGER and faster than Derick Henry. That is ridiculous. Draft him and sit him for a year and a half or two behind Geno. Lots coming out about Geno's contract. This looks a lot more like Alex Smith in KC than any other FA signing I can think of. He is the guy right now, but not down the road. Not with what appears to be $25 million per year with only $40 Guaranteed.

Yep, the Geno deal to me has "we're drafting Richardson or Levis" written all over it.
Just hope at this point they dont have to move up one spot or two to get him.
The good thing is that AZ could really use either Anderson or Carter so hopefully they don't trade back to one of the QB-needy teams directly behind us (Detroit, LV, Atlanta, Carolina picks 6 thru 9).
And hopefully Indy ends the Bryce Young slide rather than taking one of our higher-upside targets.
If that did happen though with Stroud, Richardson, Levis all gone and Young still there for the Hawks at 5, I'd prefer a trade back to one of those behind them (Young would make sense especially to Detroit or Carolina being the most polished since they should be in win-now mode) - really good QB class next year too it looks like.

That's what happens when you have zero talent around you and no O-line to play behind. Richardson did have a lot of misses, true. But if he actually hits!!? He could be the greatest QB to ever get drafted in the last generation. I'm rolling the dice. That's my guy on my card. Then Levis, Stroud, and Young, all in that order. If they are all off the board, then Will Anderson hands down, or trade back. If there was a Bosa in this draft, it'd be different but there's not. Carter was gassed in that Ohio St. game. All I saw were hands on hips and it drove me nuts! How's this guy gonna let his draft stock fall like this knowing he's projected to go Top 5?
