5. Anderson - Top edge rusher in the draft. Dream pick for the Hawks if he slips past no. 3.

25. Ringo - Hawks move back 5 spots to add a 3rd rounder. Ringo is a tall, physical corner in the mold of a Browner type to put opposite Woolen.

37. Ojulari - Hawks load up on another dynamic edge rusher in Ojulari to add depth for '24 when many edge rushers drop off the roster.

52. Smith - One of the top interior DL's in the draft. Huge and athletic. Consolation for not going w. Carter at 5.

57. Hooker - More the mold of a QB I think the Hawks would be after. Probably ready to play sooner than most. Older, wiser.

83. Tippmann - Hawks get their long-awaited center. Hawks had Hutch work out with him.

151. Young - More edge depth, can you ever have enough? The Hawks are set for years with this group.

154. Winters - Underrated, undersized tackling machine. Captain of TCU defense who excelled at the senior bowl.

198. McBride - Athletic power back. Traditional of a late, Hawks RB pick.

237. Thomas - Undersized LB w. traits suited for solid special teams play.

Sub Ringo for Will McDonald, Olujari for Johnathan Mingo, then trade out Thomas for Corey Trice, Jay Williams, or Christian Rodriguez and you have my dream scenario. No way that Hooker and Tippman last that long in the draft though.

Yup. The notion of Carolina picking Young has been spun over the last week or so. Houston is in major need of an Edge player too and Anderson would be the best available player, and maybe want to take their changes on QB in 2024 after sucking again for another year.

As for AZ, they lost JJ Watt and his 18TFLs. AZ was middle of the pack in rush defense in 2022 giving up 120yds per game. I think if they don't address the loss of Watt they will pay dearly. So I have AZ taking Jalen Carter at #3 as best available or they trade out of #3 and possibly still get Carter or Wilson. I don't think Anderson ever made sense for the 4-3 AZ defense. And I understand the rumors out there that AZ might be off of Carter due to behavior issues, so I think it is equally possible AZ trades down. AZ has lots of holes yet to fill and could use the extra picks too.

I think Arizona AND Houston both desperately want out of 2 and 3, but nobody is willing to pay top dollar to do so. I could see the Colts possibly moving up to 2 for Stroud, but they might be in love with Levis even more.

I could see Carter going #3. Arizona wants to trade back, but nobody is biting. I think Wilson or Carter make a lot if sense there.

If Richardson is on the board, I take him at 5 all day long. They brought in Witherspoon for a visit. They can't seriously be taking a CB at 5 could they? I mean, the Texans took Derek Stingley Jr. at 3 last year. I need more time to think on this. There's been a lot of shake up lately. I can't believe I'm even saying this but, could Seattle potentially be interested in trading down?! I just can't see it. No way!

I know this is so unrealistic. Might be my favorite mock draft ever!

Yeah, how I look at the Witherspoon and Carter visits are, not to leave a top prospect 'stone' unturned. If the Hawks decide to trade out of #5, these visits are an important posture for a couple of obvious reasons. One, is because it reflects some interest by the current pick holder, and that may help another team validate a reason to trade up. And two, if they can't pull off a trade at #5 the Hawks may need to pick one of these players. I think Witherspoon fits more with the former though, and Carter the latter, if this is how the draft falls.

I can see the potential trade partners being the Cowboys, Saints, and Chargers if we trade out of #5. I think the Hawks 'ask' will center around a 2024 1st round pick. This would give the Hawks flexibility of two 1st rounders to deal in 2024 if they need to make a move on QB.

I have a very hard time believing the Hawks will take a corner when the significant need is beef on the DL. Especially with their past drafting corners. They're hosting guys for visits which says something about their thoughts on the position, but I think it'll be much more likely that they add a corner with their 2nd or 3rd pick, hence my Ringo selection.

Ringo just fits the physical profile they've lacked from their right side corner since the LOB days.
