No lack of people to point fingers at. But 10 wins with a rookie HC is not terrible (11 if they don't shit the bed against the Giants).

Can this team build a solid foundation with a really good punter and kicker?

This is the only one I see from the Harbaugh tree -

Tee Martin, quarterbacks coach, Baltimore Ravens:
Macdonald knows Martin well as the two worked together in Baltimore during the 2022-23 seasons. Martin guided Tennessee to a national title as a QB in 1998 and played three years in the NFL before entering coaching. His only NFL coaching experience is 2021-24 with the Ravens, the first two as receivers coach. He was the OC at USC from 2016-18 and is obviously well-versed in the John Harbaugh way of doing things.

They gave him hamburger and fired him when he didn't make a steak dinner.
The Seahawks’ longstanding offensive line woes were again at the forefront this season, with a combination of subpar play and numerous injuries.

According to Pro Football Focus, Seattle ranked 24th in run block grading and 26th in pass block grading. ESPN’s metrics paint a similar picture, with the Seahawks ranking 21st in pass block win rate and 28th in run block win rate. Injuries certainly didn’t help, as the team rarely had continuity while cycling through four right tackles and three right guards.

The individual metrics further illustrate the issues up front. Out of 77 guards, second-year right guard Anthony Bradford ranked 73rd in PFF grading and rookie right guard Sataoa Laumea ranked 77th. Right tackle Stone Forsythe, who started five games, ranked 80th out of 81 tackles. Rookie right tackle Michael Jerrell didn’t hit the minimum-snap threshold for PFF, but finished with only a slightly better grade than Forsythe over his three starts.

And at tight end, veteran Noah Fant was ranked 73rd out of 78 players at his position in PFF run block grading.
Jesus himself couldn't have run the ball with this shit roster. But don't look at the man that built the roster. Shit can the first year OC.

Is it safe to say that none of the big name “skill position” players could succeed without quality linemen?

If so, perhaps it's fair to think that Grubb never had what he needed to be successful. It's also fair to think that Schneider hasn't done enough.

I think it's naive not to assume there is more to it than what is observable to us from a distance. At this point i'm willing to trust that Macdonald had his reasons.

I got a hundred that says JC could run for 1000 yards for the Seahawks.

We can assume what ever we want to. But what would you think as an outsider looking in? Id be thinking...why the Hell would I go there? They gave Grubb a bunch of scrubs up front, a journeyman QB, and then fired him for ONLY winning ten games and having the passing offense in the top 10. I have a feeling we will be doing this for awhile. You can assume they had reasons....I'll assume that it's just another ego maniac running a Seattle team that needed a head to roll so people would stop talking about how he fucked up. Schneider puts the heat on MM and MM axes Grubb.

It worked. Now, no one is talking about anything besides Geno and DK's contract and the new OC. Very few are pointing out that the roster is grossly flawed, and adding a new offense and a new play caller won't fix that.

I do understand what scapegoat means and I'm saying it doesn't apply. The Seahawks won ten games the roster is not grossly flawed. There was no reason to fire a coach to appease the masses
The O line was a shit show because they added complete slop in FA and missed on all the draft picks. But it is the play callers fault. Starting to wonder about JS. I bet he had a big greasy paw in this decision.
The play caller that called 13 straight pass plays after a meeting with the HC asking him to mix it up better

Fire able? Come on. First off, I'd like to know a lot more than that. Game time, score, situation, play called, did Geno audible. Jesus Christ. Did you really pull one piece of a game, with no mention to what game, and say that is why the OC was fired? Now I'd really not want to work there if I was an OC. God Forbid you have a few possessions in one game the HC disagrees with.

They are reaching for things if that was the root cause. Can't wait to get Schotty back. That'll be fun.

Fuck the body of work. To hell with the limited roster. He called thirteen straight pass plays....get out. If he would have called thirteen straight run plays that would have been an entire half of three an outs!

This shit cracks me up. Why doesn't someone go break down the Giants game and find all the dumb shit we did defensively? The QB who looked like an MVP candidate against us was out right released a few weeks later he is so shitty. But let's dissect everything the first year Offensive play caller did to try and justify a firing that was nothing more than way to defer attention from a very flawed roster and many MANY mistakes that had nothing to do with Grubb. Nope, Grubb once called a bunch of pass plays in a row...no context, but fuck him...he gone.

A typical Seattle response from the FO, and a typical Seattle fan base and media response. They did it, so it must be the right thing to do!

In the last ten years this team has missed the playoffs four times and has a playoff record of 3 and 6. They haven't once advanced past the second weekend, and their three wins are against the Vikings because Walsh couldn't kick a 19 yard FG, the Lions who were terrible and the Eagles when they started a 40 plus year old QB with a broken back. One of their losses was to the Rams with a QB with two broken fingers on his throwing hand and the Rams lead grew after Aarnold Donald left the game.

In the past four years they lost one playoff game in blowout fashion and have missed the playoffs the other three years. This is after the NFL added a playoff team. Yet? We must just blindly believe they are correct because they told us. This smells real bad, and maybe it will pay off. But I truly believe that no one is going to want to come here and call plays knowing what they will have to work with and that they will be blamed when it doesn't work.
