The thing with TODAY'S Bears, though, is that they are pretty much the opposite situation from the Seahawks. The Seahawks bring in a veteran mid-season, they see the environment here and are like "holy shit, this place is WAY better than the crap team I was on" and want to stay. Sweat is going from one dumpster fire organization to another, so I can't imagine he'll be wowed by that.
I'm positive the Seahawks expect Williams to re-sign, or at least give them a fair shot at it (obviously depends on salary cap and market values of course), and were willing to pay a little more because they're making a run at the playoffs this year. All the Bears have going for them is a bunch of cap space... and they could've made the same move in free agency. I don't get it.
Only thing I can figure is that they said "oh, well the Seahawks did it, so we should too"
