Looks like five more years of horseshit Offensive Lines

John Schneider is expected to soon sign a new contract that is expected to keep him as the general manager and president of football operations with the Seahawks through the 2030 NFL draft.
Seattle has not advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs since then (Super Bowl Loss). But the Seahawks have continued to fulfill Schneider’s goal of being “a consistent, championship-caliber football team.”

In other words, the fans should be thanking them. More hard hitting journalism in Seattle. Haven't advanced past the Divisional round in a decade. 3 and 6 in the playoffs since blowing that game, failed to make the playoffs in three of the past four seasons. But? Long term sustainable mediocrity. That's what this city screams for.

Being consistently slightly better than .500 for a decade makes them championship caliber? Who wrote that stuff, Bob Condotta or Jerry Dipoto?

I'm not against this. Look, we've had probably the third- or fourth-most successful NFL franchise over the last 15 years, and at present we might have the best roster of under-25 players in the league (a recent ESPN article ranked our players #2 after the Texans).

And if we can Schneider, that means we need to find a new GM and there's no guarantee that he'll be better.

I heard "Carefull what you wish for" when I was fine with Seven Sarkisian leaving. Yeah, that sucked.
I was told that when I pleaded for years for Romar to leave, and while it has been a bit bumpy? Look we have gotten better and everywhere he has gone has been terrible.

Good Lord, look at every thing we have done since second and goal, and you believe THAT is the best this team could have possibly hoped for?

Fear of moving on because we are OK with just being OK is how we get in the position we get into. Fear of what might be is how we hold on to guys like Willingham and Servais, and why we stuck it out with Pete too long. "It's OK that we aren't very good, remember the 80s!?" That is the mantra that Seattle professional sports fans seem to live by.
Okay.

Or maybe better put — Ooooookay?

My guess is that was the reaction from many a Seahawks fan in response to news Wednesday that the contract of team’s general manager, John Schneider, was going to be extended through the 2030 NFL draft.

Because for the past few years — or even the rougher part of the past decade — the Seahawks have been just that: Okay.
as Andre 3000 said, “You only funky as your last cut.” And the Seahawks have A) won just one playoff game since 2016, and B) missed the playoffs the past two years. Last season, mind you, was the first in which Schneider had the final say in all personnel matters. That hammer used to lie in the hands of Carroll.
Closest thing to hard hitting journalism this area will ever get, and he hedges hit bet later by basically saying it might be the right move. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/sea ... subscriber

It is a stupid move, at a stupid time. Much like hiring Dan Wilson without even doing a search for anyone else. He has had one season of making his own moves, and it was with at best mixed results, and they were home for the playoffs for third time in four years. Imagine if the Rams game had mattered and they had played their starters? We had to come back to beat their scrubs to get to ten wins.

I was disappointed to hear this. I felt this should have been JS's do-or-die year.
I'm certain JS signed off on firing Pete. Jody chose Pete over RW and then JS over Pete.
JS should have been on a two-year rope just like Pete and then Geno were.

Albert Breer on Brock and Salk said a lot of times a team wants to keep the GM on the same contract as
the Head Coach, so as to keep that relationship in balance. This move, IMO, is also a vote of confidence
in Mike Macdonald.

They co-authored; Bob's share was 46%. ;)

I love this news! Viva Schneider! Dude's been killing it since kicking Pete to the curb!

Way to early to make such an assessment. Last year's draft class didn't impress me much. Knight was the only bright spot. Murphy and Barner were meh, Haynes was awful.

timing seems odd, I'm not against keeping him but why not wait to see how the season goes
During Schneider's time as GM, the Seahawks have compiled the sixth-best record in the NFL at 147-96-1 and have won 10 or more games in nine of the past 13 seasons. Seattle has made the playoffs 10 times in 15 seasons and has won five NFC West titles and two conference championships under Schneider.
