Yep, I think they basically trying to impress friends/family by going out of state and they end up being tiny fish in a big Ocean. Trade long term success for short term prestige. Totally misguided..Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:02 pmI think if Eason had gone to UW to begin with he would have been a lot better by his final year than he ended up being. And several of those others would have been able to play more, like that clown who chose Nebraska. They all think the grass is going to be greener somewhere else and it usually turns out to be the opposite.
What are the chances we land this kid????

Still, we piss an moan about losing these guys, and then they bust. So, is it really worth getting that worked up? We have done a pretty decent job of brining in talent....just take a look at NFL rosters. There are plenty of Huskies.

I am not worked just feel bad for these kids ignoring the curse and end up doing pod casts on Corn hole instead of playing in the NFL.

Didn't necessarily mean you were worked up right now. Just saying....every year we piss and moan about these guys leaving, and then the never amount to much. I think the talent in this State is grossly over rated, mostly due to the fact that there isn't much talent so they never play anyone. Last year the league that my town is in sent two teams to State. Top two in League, and the RPI was 15 and 16, and they got destroyed. AAAA has maybe two or three decent teams every year. Our top teams would mostly get throttled if we played top teams out of State. It is what it is.
Still, G Scott will come home and be a home town hero and someone will give him a job. The guy you mentioned that coaches football in Pasco? I am sure he was handed another job to do basically nothing but coach football, and probably makes more money than most typing away in here. I really doubt these kids consider themselves failures, and based on the fact that very few kids get a D 1 scholarship? They shouldn't.
Everyone of them was THE MAN in HS and when they come home they are still legends. They all have massive egos. Just because the track record of kids leaving is not good, each on of these kids probably thought they were too good to fail, they would be the one to break the "curse".

I don't think its fair just to focus on the ones who flame out. There are guys who go out of state for school and do just fine. Jonathan Stewart, David Decastro, Myles jack, Zach Banner, Joshua Garnett, Taylor Mays etc. Currently 31 players from this state in the NFL which ranks 23rd. That's a little lower than we should probably be based on population but its not terrible.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 3:22 pmDidn't necessarily mean you were worked up right now. Valid point. I think my point is mostly that we seem to freak out a lot, and it isn't always that big of a deal. I am trying to remember years on the guys you have mentioned, but it seems most are some time ago. I think we have closed the gap on USC and Oregon since then. This year? Maybe not so much.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 7:41 pmI don't think its fair just to focus on the ones who flame out. There are guys who go out of state for school and do just fine. Myles Jack was all due to some odd hatred Bellevue had for Sark. Probably from that Ass Clown Mora Jr.

And now it's Eastside Catholic's odd hatred for Lake that's costing UW in recruiting.

Re: What are the chances we land this kid????
I haven't heard that, but then, it was after Jack graduated from UCLA before all the crap about them hating Sark came out. Actually, wasn't it when Budda changed his mind? Seems like at that point there was a story about how Bellevue changed their tune on the UW with Petersen there.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 2:55 amAnd now it's Eastside Catholic's odd hatred for Lake that's costing UW in recruiting.![]()
Re: What are the chances we land this kid????
yeah, that was true, but really poor timing though, as it was shortly after Petersen's hire and Budda's flip that the Bellevue coach and program got exposed, effectively ending their run of dominance both on the field and as a prospect pipeline. why the EC program hasnt taken to Lake is another good question, although at this point it looks like their players were all overhyped except for the big one JTT.
