7/21/19 Edgar Martinez HOF day game thread

Post by DavidGee24 » Sun Jul 21, 2019 9:21 pm

A great day for Mariner fans. It's not just about the team's success, it's about the individual players we love too, and we've had great riches where that is concerned. Congrats to Edgar on his big day today.

Of course, the Mariners being the Mariners, they are doing everything they can to ruin the day. Getting shut down by a crummy pitcher who shuts nobody down, and Kikuchi is having his fifth straight bad start against the Angels. He can't just one time go out there against that team and at least give us something halfway decent?

Oh well, I suppose you cant have everything.

Popular game thread today; lots of contribution and action

Thanks for playing DG. M's sure ain't. They have taken the day off as has the forum.

Looking at the box score Kikuchi seems to have bent over and taken it deep from a couple Angels, Pujols and Trout. :o
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Dee Gordon is 3 for 3 which means has value has gone up from a prospect missing an arm and a leg to one just missing an arm.

Man Kikuchi is terrible. What a dumb decision to give a guy a long term contract in the middle of a rebuild.

2.81 ERA in Japan... missed locations by 3 feet or more multiple times today. How. On what planet, how?

Another oddball new age avant garde hire, this time for pitching coach, doesn't seem to be panning out...........

Talk about overthinking things.

Makes you wonder if he were pitching in Japan, would he be stinking it up there too?

20 2/3 innings against the Angels, 27 runs allowed. WOW.

Nice to see how Seags’ weight loss has borne fruit, only .14 down from Mendoza.

Too much tofu, not enough steak?

It makes me think that Otani is giving the lineup some inside scoop on his pitch selection based on experience in the JCL. (I’m saying this without looking at the Otani vs Kikuchi splits.)
