Yeah, I don't think any thought he would be worse even though he somehow is. Its more laughing at the giddy Roots sports crew and the rest of the M's PR machine thinking he would go right back to 2016 Seager.

Speaking of Vlad who is listed at 250lbs btw, he only has a .723 OPS. I guess those that were freaking that he wasn't on the OD roster may have been overreacting. Griffey had an .847 OPS at age 20.

Wow how about Juan Soto. I guess they shouldn't be worried about have rushed him. Pretty consistent for his age 19 and 20 seasons.

19 .292/.406/.517/.923
20 .293/.401/.523/.924

That is absolutely unbelieveable.

That is a little different. Losing velocity off his fastball. Big guys can throw harder than little guys in general. Kind of like an O lineman losing weight. Also long as it doesn't impact your swing, hitting as almost nothing to do with being in shape. See: Vogelbach, Daniel.

Trout had a rough go with his cup O coffee as a 19 yo with a .672 OPS but managed a .963 OPS as a 20 yo. His worst since is .939. 70 bWAR already at age 27. Edgar was at 0.7 WAR coming into his age 27 season. lol

sure, there is a lot being made of Soto's first 200 games being better than Trout's

Soto has more home runs, RBI and walks, fewer strikeouts and a higher OPS than did Trout for a full season and a quarter.
