I had that video feed and it was just a lot of cursing, sobbing and being pissed off over the Jarrod Dyson pickup for the Mariners.

You may not believe this, but in 10 years of lurking on the old forum, I remember so many of those names. Of course, not having interaction with them left me at a severe disadvantage.

When i joined the forum i mainly posted on the Seahawks board. There were a lot of guys from there whose names i've forgotten. Michael K was there before me so perhaps he can remember some of them. Some time in 2007 Jim Valvis, a popular though divisive member, had a dispute with the admin and left for a new forum that one of the other members created, taking 20-30 others along with him including me and Michael. That forum only lasted a couple years. Shortly after that a troll going by the handle CowboysP joined and was starting new threads daily that disparaged the Seahawks, mainly in a passive aggressive manor so that he wouldn't violate the forum rules (there were shadow moderators back then who would read complaints from when posts were reported and issue warnings or ban the repeat violators). Because of all the chaos this guy was causing, and the inability of most of the other members to not respond to him, i decided to take action. After all, the forum was being hijacked and what had been a place of generally polite discourse was losing its civility. So i started a thread in which i listed the names of everyone who had responded to the troll each day in the hopes of shaming them into ignoring his sad provocations. For that, i got banned.

Then, there was another exodus hastened by the appearance of some crude and vulgar new users who probably had been lurkers, but like vultures descended upon the forum in its weakened state. These vandals upon civil discourse, such as Y.P.A.D. (You People Are Dumb) were able to drive off most of the remaining polite and mature contributors. And so died the Seahawks forum. Fortunately a few decent fellows remained and it experienced a mild resurgence in its remaining few years.

I am saddened to report that the Seattle Times Mariners Forum passed away last night at age 15 years (?). The cause had was metastatic spam. In lieu of flowers, the Seattle Times would like you to subscribe.

On a personal note, I was a member from 2006 and enjoyed many happy years with the deceased. My favorite memory was when the forum united in a campaign to fire Bill “buttpastry” Bavasi. I believe Michael K started a website, but perhaps it was someone else. Memory fahave been would des. I also enjoyed long arguments between Billy Heywood and practically everyone on the forum, but especially ICE I believe. And I greatly miss Halfmoon.

This thread is started for everyone, especially old timers, to share their memories.

That was about the time I started posting over on the Seattle PI baseball forum. It was 2003-2004 I remember typing away about how Sexson-Beltre was awesome! not rebuilding we're reloaading
