Avoiding the A'sPocalypse Now GT

Post by D-train » Fri Jul 23, 2021 6:25 pm

Beautiful day here in Boston so Cocktails at the Pool hour starting very soon so I will completely miss this game again.

KK vs. our their worst starting. If we can't take this one, its all over but the cryin.

Could someone help me out with the lineups? Thanks.

Frankie Montas R 8-8 4.33 ERA
Oakland A's expected lineup

LF Mark Canha R
SS Elvis Andrus R
1B Matt Olson L
DH Jed Lowrie S
CF R. Laureano R
3B Matt Chapman R
C Sean Murphy R
RF S. Piscotty R
2B Jacob Wilson R

Yusei Kikuchi L 6-5 3.92 ERA

Seattle Mariners Expected Lineup

SS J. Crawford L
RF M. Haniger R
3B Kyle Seager L
1B Ty France R
CF J. Kelenic L
DH Luis Torrens R
2B Dylan Moore R
C Cal Raleigh S
LF Shed Long L

I would change this quite a bit, but I doubt it would change the outcome of the game...Probably start by switching Kelenic with Raleigh...and dropping Seager to the nine hole

Can't believe we have to go with Long. Would Dillon Thomas be better. Fraley's timing was terrible.

I'd put Torrens and Raleigh both in front of Kelenic, but it would upset the L-R-L-R-L part of the lineup that we MUST adhere to because, well, I don't know why!

SS doubles down on being an idiot blames his hitters instead.
“You can't pitch the same guys every night,” manager Scott Servais said. “They all have to pitch in your bullpen. Monty needed to pitch. There was a spot for him. We were down in the ballgame. We really thought it was, ‘Bottom of the order, hopefully get him through it, and then give us a chance to get back in and pick up another run.’ But it’s tough to win a game when you only score one run.”

I would think the mentality of a player going up to bat with their team down by 1 run is considerably more positive and upbeat than when they are down by 3 runs. Morale and motivation are real and matter, so it's not very smart putting a pitcher in there late in a close one who gives up 1.5 runs and allows 2.5 baserunners per inning pitched over the past three weeks.

Can't believe he says he had to pitch there when you could have pitched him a day earlier down by three when he went with Swanson instead. How dumb does he think we are? Not as dumb as you, dumbass.

Wow what a buffoon. Just unbelievable.

Other teams pitch their good relievers in close games and use any bums as mopup.

Is Servais under the impression he has to give equal play like it's Little League? Use your good players when it's close, seems so flippin basic.

Servais' IQ is double digits.

Come on Darren, you need to win this game today. Don't be the 1962-1963 Roger Craig of Mariner Game Threads. :D
