It's a good point, but I believe hitters nowadays are more conditioned to hit against power pitching than against movement. I'd stay with Marco.TraderGary wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:18 amI guess I'm in the minority. I would take KK over Marco. Pitchers like Marco, if they don't have their pinpoint control, they're in real trouble. Guys like KK, even if they're not locating properly, they can still get guys out consistently because of their stuff.Petert wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:14 amI would. I'd rather a LH starter who can work consistently with control and a fastball that tops at 90, in my rotation. It contrasts well in the rotation against other pitching profiles. I can always find a LHP that throws 95+ and is inconsistent.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:06 am
So would you pick up his option then? They are both the same age.
Besides this year Marco has the better ERA over their careers so far.

I was listening to the angels announcers working KK's last outing. One of them said the difference in KK this year is he went to some local company and they analized the spin on his ball using different weighted balls? Somehow they helped him add 3-4mph more to his fastball. Anyhow I like the new KK.TraderGary wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:18 amI guess I'm in the minority. I would take KK over Marco. Catcher's got an arm, for sure. Thought France was dead to rights.

Raleigh did not see a strike nor a fast ball on that AB. But he couldn't lay off.... Torrens can..

That's a fair point, but when you have an overpowering fastball, your secondary stuff can be so much more effective. I still go with KK every time. Now had you asked me that question last year or the year before, of course I would have said Marco. But I think KK is finally coming into his own.Petert wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:20 amIt's a good point, but I believe hitters nowadays are more conditioned to hit against power pitching than against movement. In my opinion, KK is a #2 or #3 at worst. Marco is a #4 or #5.

But tough when they call pitches 6 inches below the knees a strike.

I grewt up watching Whitey Ford. I guess I have an affinity for LH soft-tossers.TraderGary wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:26 amThat's a fair point, but when you have an overpowering fastball, your secondary stuff can be so much more effective. Has this ump sucked this bad all game? Haven't watched much. That wasn't close on strike 1 for Kelenic or Torrens.
