Zunino's been accumulating WAR at a rate similar to Mallex Smith because there are no positions on the field where you get WAR tossed in your lap for having a pulse like CF and C.

.2 WAR in 59 games compared to Mallex's .4 in 88.

Maybe we should play the "but he has positive WAR!" game for Zunino like these guys try to do for Mallex Smith lol.
Secretly you have fantasies about Mallex right? You rag on him every day like a jilted lover....or an ex-wife.

No one here thinks he is the end all be all, but he is not at the heart of what ails the M's. We have what... 6 other options for him in the minors??? BUT THEY ARE NOT READY so we play the hand we have. There is no need to keep harping on the fact that he sucks...he is what he is
Every player is what he is. That's the dumbest thing I've ever fuckin heard. Mallex Smith is exactly what's wrong with the Mariners. They only have a few holes to fill. CF, 1B, 2B, SP1, SP2 and they're contending.

I'll harp on how bad every bad player is until they're gone because I dont think we're far from contending if we remove the weak links and we shouldn't waste at bats on bums.

When I started pointing out how bad Mallex Smith is everybody disagreed.

As long as he's still in the game and playing below the level of his peers, I'll still be yapping about how he doesn't deserve to be.

I'm here to vent about the Mariners, I don't care if you read it or not.

Ever hear the term the squeaky wheel gets the grease?

One of the reasons the Mariners are never held accountable is because people like you try to stifle dissenters. Suck it bil. You idiots think by not complaining you're being good fans. Complete opposite is true. You're just being their lapdogs.

Yeah I am not convinced they fixed him tbh and I don't think it's a stretch that the expectation was that at the very least he should be matching and exceeding his 2017 WAR number which he doesn't look like he will. However considering what we offloaded for him and the fact that we got Fraley too I'll take it.
Plassmeyer is looking pretty good though. He might end up being an MLB player for TB. I still like Fraley better.

Zunino and Heredia for Smith. Meh it's a wash of below average MLB players. Fraley for Plassmeyer, I think Ms come out ahead

Do you not remember his demotion at the beginning of the year?

You're #'s comparison of Mallex from last season, has the basis most likely of a starting caliber future core piece to build around, which I do not think he is. This dude isn't playing on turf anymore. He was "horrible" to begin the season. When he came back, he was "fixed". To what degree, well...."tomato, tamato!" He's not gonna be the version you pointed out from last year however as I both think we can agree upon that.
He has gone from horrible to below average. Bobble head night material for sure.

So we got a player who is twice as good as the one we gave up. sounds like a win to me.

Likeable, but on the scrapheap of failing Mariner high first round draft picks...

With Fraleys arrival nearing and the pick up of Broxton, the writing is on the wall for Mallex.

Zunino leapfrogs Mallex with .4 WAR.

Mallex, no longer in the WAR haven of center field, already the harsh realization that expectations are higher for corner outfielders, sees his WAR drop to .3.

Won't get away with that .600 OPS stuff in the corners Mallex. Buhbye.

Wow, Mallex on the road: .196/.259/.327/.586. The grass must be a little shorter at Safeco than every other grass field.

2nd half .229/.299/.314/.613  I thought he had turned the corner!

Sounds a little silly, but I have actually long thought the Mariners batting averages being consistently lower than other teams (even for our "good" players) may have something to do with our grass.

I remember though a year or two ago the team put in new grass, not sure if that included the infield, but the batting averages team wide do seem to have improved since. So have our players, so.. could just be that the players dont suck.
